Interior and atmosphere at CatuaBar Amsterdam

Anyone who thinks a mix of South Africa and South America is difficult to reconcile is mistaken. Here's the thing: owners and couple Guilherme Comandulli (Brazil) and Saskia Silvia (South Africa) moved to Amsterdam a few years ago, where they started Rice (a bakery). Now it was time for their first restaurant, drawing inspiration from both their backgrounds. And anyone who tastes the menu and experiences the atmosphere will immediately realize that the two blend seamlessly.

The food at CatuaBar is a fusion of Brazilian, Argentinian, Peruvian, and European cuisine. Of course, there's a delicious ceviche on the menu, but the Brazilian fish stew is a must-try (because it's typically Brazilian). Meat lovers will also want to try the Argentinian choripan.

The cocktails showcase influences from Peru, Brazil, and South Africa. The menu features five "Unforgettables" and six "Forgotten Classics," all of which you'll want to try. There are also two special "House Barrels," such as the catuaba-bark aged negroni. This drink gets its unique flavor from aging the catuaba herb in the negroni for weeks, resulting in a surprising taste.
