Carmen Kitchen Amsterdam: the hidden gem with the tastiest scrambled eggs in the city center

Sleeping, eating, and shopping: Carmen Amsterdam has it all. The guesthouse is located in the stately canal house, and next door is the shop with a unique selection of (designer) fashion and beauty products, including a bar and seating area in the back of the building and the garden. And that's precisely where we love to visit: Carmen Kitchen Amsterdam.

Ambience and interior at Carmen Kitchen Amsterdam

If you're looking for a strong cup of coffee, take a seat at the cozy bar while you watch the shoppers marvel at the beautiful items for sale in Carmen's shop. The minimalist decor has a certain je ne sais quoi, even though you can clearly see that every detail has been carefully considered. There's a relaxed atmosphere; you can linger for hours if you like. Breakfast and lunch are served at the bar, but there's also a larger seating area at the back of the building – including a terrace overlooking the courtyard.

Menu and dishes from Carmen Kitchen

Carmen Kitchen's dishes are absolutely delicious. The soft scramble (a buttery-soft scrambled egg) with shaved goat cheese and crispy chili oil is a huge hit. And that's no wonder, because a good soft scramble like this is rare.

The other dishes are seasonal, like a winter rice soup with leek or a shaved zucchini salad with anchovy bread in the summer. And then there are the delicious sweets (just as good as the soft scramble!): fluffy ricotta pancakes, banana bread, freshly baked cookies, and more. You get the idea: they pair perfectly with that strong espresso they make for you.

Carmen Kitchen Amsterdam is perfect for a weekend lunch

On weekdays, you can visit Carmen Kitchen, which is nice and quiet. Weekends are definitely busier, but the atmosphere is even better. So, looking for a cozy brunch or lunch spot in the heart of Amsterdam, not too far from Museumplein? Then you'll definitely want to try Carmen.

Tip: these (new) restaurants are also located in the city center

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre).
