Café De Tulp Amsterdam is now a staple in the hospitality industry. A revamped version of the famous spot recently opened its doors, featuring a refreshed (and truly delightful!) interior and a new menu with Asian roots. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Tulp.

The atmosphere and interior at the newly revamped Café De Tulp Amsterdam

According to the current owners, it was time for a refresh after more than six years. The interior and kitchen have undergone a thorough makeover, and the opening hours have been extended, with more focus on lunch and dinner. The offering has also been expanded with natural wines and sakes, while the shared dining now has an Asian twist. The spacious terrace remains the place to be in De Pijp for casual drinks and tasty bites.

De Tulp has recently transformed, welcoming you into a minimalist interior with warm colours. There are no Scandinavian influences here, but rather a touch of Asia and Southern Europe. As soon as you walk in, you feel the cosiness and positive energy – just as you’ve come to expect from De Tulp.

Dishes and menu at Café De Tulp

Asia inspires the cuisine at De Tulp. Chef Aaron Keller, under the supervision of Jef van den Hout (known from De Willem, Bord’Eau and Taiko), has put together a well-balanced mix of dishes, snacks, and sides. Think cod with laksa and bok choy, or confit duck leg with gochujang. You can reserve tables in the restaurant, and a large table is always available for walk-ins. The wine list has also been revamped: around 70% consists of natural wines, and the glass serves four types of pét-nat.

Café De Tulp is perfect for a long evening with friends

In addition to delicious food, De Tulp is also the place for a party. The bar is both a cocktail bar and DJ booth, with an impressive vinyl collection full of 70’s & 80’s records. From Thursday to Saturday, the DJ starts around 10 pm and keeps spinning until late. The cocktail menu offers classics and a selection of sake and cocktails with an Eastern twist. And if it’s a lovely evening, you’ll naturally stay until the early hours on the enormous terrace.
