Café de Linden Amsterdam: the café where time seems to stand still and your go-to place at the weekend

At Café de Linden Amsterdam, it's almost as if time has stood still. Yet, it's a favorite spot for young Jordaan residents and the place to be for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks.

Atmosphere and interior at Café de Linden Amsterdam

At Café de Linden in the Jordaan, time seems to have stood still. Yet, this traditional Dutch café is more modern than you might think, and on weekends, it's reminiscent of Saturday nights in Paris, with everyone chatting inside and out, enjoying a glass of fine wine.

Café de Linden is located in the building that used to house Café de Zon. That place seemed to attract some rougher types, so they changed the name of this new spot to bring a breath of fresh air.

Menu at Café de Linden

"A grilled cheese sandwich is just a grilled cheese sandwich," they say at Café de Linden Amsterdam. And that's true; the restaurant's menu is simple, offering, for example, a cup of coffee for €3, accompanied by a peanut butter sandwich or a ham and cheese sandwich. With your afternoon beer, you can order plain chips or snacks bought at the nearby Noordermarkt.

And in the mood for a good glass of wine? Café de Linden is the place to be. Besides wine on tap (purchased from Zuiver Wijnen), they also offer a wide selection of wines by the bottle.

Café de Linden is perfect for a date night or evening with friends

At Café de Linden, you can enjoy a cup of coffee and a toasted sandwich in the morning – perhaps with your little one – and the rest of the day is the perfect place for drinks. The relaxed atmosphere is sure to make you want to linger.

Tip: you can also find these (new) restaurants in the Jordaan

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre).
