Wait, wait, WHAT? Is Burning Man, maybe the most populair festival of the world, coming to the Netherlands?! Hell yes! This exciting news just came to us and we couldn’t wait to share. Burning Man Netherlands is a fact! We cannot wait already!

Een groep vrijwilligers vond het de hoogste tijd voor een Nederlandse versie van Burning Man. En dus gingen ze aan de slag met voorbereidingen. Inmiddels is deze groep een officiële non-profit organisatie: Burning Man Nederland. Met alle steun van hun grote Amerikaanse broer. Het eerste event van Burning Man Nederland is daarom nu een feit. Yay!
A group of volunteers thought it was time for a Dutch version of Burning Man. And so they started preparations. Now this group has become an official non-profit organiazion: Burning Man Netherlands! With all the support of their big American brother. The first event of Burning Man Netherlands is now a fact. Yay!
Van 29 juli tot 31 juli zal de allereerste editie plaatsvinden. Het festival zal luisteren naar de naam Where The Sheep Sleep. Vinden wij wel zo toepasselijk voor ons kikkerlandje ;-) Uiteraard zal ook dit feest geheel volgens de 10 principes van het oorspronkelijke Burning Man zijn. Ze willen hiermee dus niet alleen een feest neerzetten. Maar ook een mentaliteit en een cultuur van mogelijkheden. Hierbij zullen onderlinge verbondenheid en creativiteit centraal staan. Denk aan een explosie van saamhorigheid, kunst, kleurrijke persoonlijkheden uit de hele wereld en gigantische installaties. En dat alles ergens op de Veluwe, hoe leuk is dat?
The first edition will take place from July 29 to July 31. The festival will listen to the name Where The Sheep Sleep. We find it quite appropriate for out little country ;-) And of course, this festival as a whole, will be organized according to the 10 principles of the original Burning Man. That means they won’t just drop a party. WTSS will be more than that. It will be a mentality and a culture of possibilities. It will be all about interconnectedness and creativity. Think of an explosion of togetherness, art, colourful personalities from all over the world and giant art plants. And all of that somewhere in the Veluwe, how nice is that?
Bezoek daarom snel de website en meld je aan op het Facebook-event. Lees vervolgens of jij je kunt meten aan de 10 geboden. Want alleen als je ze allemaal kunt aftikken is Burning Man iets voor jou. Bij Burning Man staat participeren namelijk hoog in het vaandel. Daarin wordt er het een en ander van je verwacht. Discriminatie is uit den boze en het lief hebben van je naasten staat centraal. Dus ook respect voor de natuur wordt er van je verwacht. Het mag duidelijk zijn: hier draait alles om de beleving. Bijzijn is meemaken!

Because only if you can tick them all of, Burning Man is the right fit for you. Participation is paramount at Burning Man. And that means you need to live by the principles. Discrimination is evil and loving your neighbour. But also be kind to Mother Nature is a requirement. It may be clear: Burning Man Netherlands is all about the experience. Live and let live!
