Are you also someone who prefers to eat out three times a week (or more)? It's truly the best thing ever! Nothing beats sitting at a table surrounded by your loved ones, chatting undisturbed without any distractions (like cooking). Unfortunately, there's one downside: it's expensive! Every month, you end up with more month left over than money, right? No worries, we don't have to adjust our culinary outings... No, we're going on a budget! We have the tastiest budget restaurants in Amsterdam.

Are you going classic with carne asada & salsa verde, or do you prefer something a little different, like birria for dipping or tempura mushroom with salsa negra!?
In this guide, you'll find my favorite taco hotspots in Amsterdam, including a must-try tip for every spot 🍴
📍 @masmais.taqueria (West)
🌮 Favorite: tuna tostada & sea bass ceviche
Perfect if you love Mexican food with a focus on seafood, great cocktails, and a laid-back cantina vibe. It feels like being in Mexico for a moment, right in Amsterdam West.
📍 @tacos.lasinaloense (Ten Katemarkt & Albert Cuypmarkt)
🌮 Favorite: create your own taco & go all in on salsa
Street-style tacos the way they're meant to be: handmade tortillas, slow-cooked steaks, and choosing your own spice level.
📍 @madre.amsterdam (Jordaan)
🌮 Favorite: birria quesatacos & tempura mushroom tacos
A plant-based Mexican restaurant that proves just how flavorful vegetarian food can be. Comfort food with a twist, and perfect for sharing.
📍 @bacalar.amsterdam (North)
🌮 Favorite: octopus taco
Still one of my favorites in Noord, with a great terrace too. Raw setting, huge on flavor. Weekend lunch here is my favorite! Definitely ask for the specials.

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢
Straight from the airport to this little place to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei, you go to a Soy Milk Shop for breakfast. Warm soy milk to eat in a bowl, and steam baskets with the tastiest dumplings and baozi. You can really wake me up for this kind of breakfast. These local breakfast spots come in all shapes and sizes, from Michelin-recommended spots to hole-in-the-wall stalls.
Most soy milk shops open early (and sometimes even 24 hours a day), and these are the dishes you want to try:
🥄 Warm soy milk
🥢 Soup dumplings (you can often choose between pork and veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - a kind of fried donut stick)
🥢 Youtiao (油條) w/ pork floss & rice
🥢 Turnip cake
🥢 Chives pancake
🥢 Scallion pancake
TIP: Sharing is a good idea to taste as much as possible, because the portions are (often) large.
You'll want to remember these soy milk shops for your future trip to Taipei:
📍Fuhang Soy Milk
📍Soy Milk Shop
📍Yong He Soya Milk King (Da'an)
📍Sihai Soy Milk
I am currently touring Taiwan, and you can also find all the tips in my Stories Highlight.
Have you ever been to Taiwan? I'm curious if you thought it was *that* amazing!

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away.
During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies, where there is plenty to do.
• A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea.
· Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round.
· Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting.
Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold right now, but there is plenty to do.
• The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!).
Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure.

Bouillon d'Amsterdam is an all-day restaurant where the classic French bouillon concept meets Amsterdam's culinary culture. French quality at a reasonable price is, in my opinion, exactly what the city needs. The interior is warm and perfect for a leisurely meal with friends and family, but also for a quick lunch while shopping in the city center. The menu offers all the classics that will satisfy your Parisian cravings. From steak tartare to duck confit, and from lunch until late, you can order the entire menu à la carte. And the prices? They are truly excellent! All main courses are well over €20, and you can enjoy a steak frites for €16,90, for example.

Say Beukenplein, and you think of Café Maxwell! It's the place in East where you can enjoy a delicious meal in a charming setting, even on a budget. Café Maxwell recently underwent a complete renovation, but its familiar role in the neighborhood has remained. One of the things the team agreed on after the renovation: this place had to remain affordable for a large group of local residents. What you can taste there and everything else you want to know about this lovely eatery can be read in this extensive article >> Good to know: when the weather is nice, you can also sit on the terrace!

For the tastiest Chinese pastries, Hoi Tin is a must-visit. From sweet custard buns to our favorite, the pork bun, they have it all. The buns are freshly prepared in the bakery every day and sell like hotcakes. Get there early to be sure to get one. Fancy dim sum or other delicious Chinese dishes? We have that too.

Every day from 18:00 PM, you're welcome to join us for a hot meal at R. de Rosa. A simple but always delicious dish plus a glass of wine for €16,50. Perfect if you don't feel like cooking one evening.

Is it time for taco night again? At Madre, you can enjoy Taco Tuesday every Tuesday. Two tacos and a margarita for €23,50. A fantastic deal, if you ask us. There's also live music during dinner. A fun night out at the start of the week.

Another deal that deserves to be on this list is the Plat du Jour at Clos Amsterdam. Every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, you can order this monthly changing meal with a paired wine for €25. Keep an eye on their Instagram to see which menu they're currently serving.

At Franggo, you can enjoy delicious Portuguese chicken. Besides the famous Piri Piri, discover other delicious flavors like garlic butter lemon. Can't decide? Then go for a half-and-half chicken with two different flavors. Finish your dinner with a delicious Pastel de Nata, and you'll feel like you're dining in Portugal.

At Cafe Soleil It's all about Mediterranean comfort food that will make you happy. For under 20 euros, you can order the risotto with oyster mushrooms and pumpkin butter sauce, the piri piri chicken, or a plate of prawns al ajillo with fries and salad. A cozy spot for an evening with friends, but also surprisingly kid-friendly.

Ramen is pure comfort food, something we could eat every day. At Fou Fow, they know exactly what to do. Make your ramen as delicious as you like by ordering extra toppings. Besides classics like Tonkatu or Miso ramen, they also have delicious bites on the menu.

Here, you're not just eating any pizza, but Neapolitan pizza. And everyone knows, of course, that pizza originated in Naples. The chefs themselves trained under the guardians of Neapolitan pizza: the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. And you can taste it; it's so delicious!

The Foodhallen in Amsterdam-West might not be exactly cheap, but if you're smart, you can definitely eat well for 15 euros. Try a platter of falafel and various kinds of hummus, for example, or a burger and fries. The sushi is also delicious and filling!

Here you can eat the most delicious pizzas for no more than 10 euros each. But if you really want a good deal, go for the specials. For example, the Tartufo Bianco or the one with pomegranate. They cost around 15 euros, and we promise, they're more than worth it.

In my opinion, the tastiest chicken is definitely at Van 't Spit. And then there's the delicious corn on the cob and the sweet potato mash… YUM! Plus, it's always pleasantly busy here, and it's guaranteed to be a spot where you'll always linger longer than you planned.
