Brunch is always a good idea, right? Because brunch basically means a nice, late, and deliciously extensive breakfast. Often preceded by a good lie-in, it's a popular Sunday activity. So, here's a great list for the weekend: 16 x the most delicious brunch in Amsterdam Oost!
Our city's second Hoxton Hotel houses Breman Brasserie, where you can enjoy brunch like you're not used to in the Netherlands. Think quinoa granola, a BB croque madame, smashed avocado toast, butter waffles with fruit compote, or wild mushrooms with a scrambled egg. You'd love to order everything and fill the table with it.

Before opening their doors earlier this year, the owners asked local residents what they hoped the renovated Badhuis would become, and most agreed: a place that represents connection. In whatever form that takes: from communal game nights to music programming, to an "extension of your living room." And so it happened, because Badhuis is now Javaplein's most charming hotspot, where you can enjoy a delicious brunch—indoors or on the spacious terrace. And while you're there, go for the tuna sandwich Niçoise.

Looking for a delicious waterfront dining experience in Oost? Then head to Ode aan de Amstel. Located where Riva used to be, they now offer an affordable all-day menu. Prefer to go all-out with multiple courses? Choose the chef's menu! They're open daily from 11:00 AM for lunch, and on Sundays, they also offer a delicious Sunday Brunch.

In the always lively and bustling Javastraat, you can visit Le French Café all day long. A modern French bistro with a menu packed with the best of France, it'll make you feel like you're in Paris. The interior is simply stunning! The menu features delicious brunch dishes like eggs Benedict, steak tartare, and more. Want to stick around for drinks after brunch? Then Le French Café is definitely the place to be. The appetizer menu is so delicious, you might even skip the main course for dinner.

A sister of De Tros (see below) and a fine addition to Amsterdam East: TurboTurbo Amsterdam is a nod to the owners' favorite car: the Saab Turbo. Sadly, it's no longer produced, but Turbo Amsterdam is vibrant and modern. This place is a hangout spot where you'd love to spend the whole day. Luckily, you can, because they serve coffee, brunch, snacks, and dinner. Their unique and culinary croquette sandwich is a must.

Neighborhood café De Tros is a true all-rounder; from noon onward, you'll want to stick around until late at night. And we share that opinion with many others, because De Tros is always pleasantly busy. Their coffee is the best in the area, and the brunch dishes are just as good. The steak tartare is a hit, but also try the asparagus with beurre noisette.

On Weesperzijde in Amsterdam East, you'll find grand café de Ysbreeker. It's not exactly trendy, but it's a spot locals keep returning to. They open every day at 8:00 AM, perfect for early risers. Start your day right with a cup of coffee from the espresso bar, but if you're in the mood for a delicious brunch, they're also the place to be. From poached eggs with salmon and hollandaise sauce to granola with coconut and yogurt, you'll find it all here. In the summer, they have one of the best terraces in Amsterdam East.

The Cottage is a well-known name in East and the surrounding area, as few places are as relaxed and good as this one. They've since expanded to include a deli for takeaways of their delicious recipes and ingredients, but you can also enjoy brunch at their restaurant. The scones are a hit, and the avocado toast is also delicious. It's also a great place to go with kids!

Massalia Restobar is located on Beukenplein, just like Leo (see below). Massalia is Greek for Marseille, a city in the South of France originally founded by the Greeks. And that just happens to be the roots of chef Angelo Kremmydas, who is also at the helm of the popular Gitane. He had Amsterdam West Already acquainted with the special flavours from his country of origin, now it is the East's turn.

On Weesperzijde, you'll find Greek Embassy, a place where coffee and Greek traditions (and delicacies) converge. They're known for their Greek comfort food, and that's exactly what you're craving during a weekend brunch. Tip: try the Greek "kayanas" eggs.

Feed in Amsterdam East is a wonderful spot for a leisurely brunch. Every Sunday, they have a Sunday Roast from 4:00 PM (for late brunchers), and DJs and musicians regularly perform. It's such a cozy spot with a real community feel. Brunch is available Wednesday through Sunday from 11:00 AM.

Looking for brunch and a break from the city? Then Park, Hotel Arena's new restaurant, is the perfect retreat. Nestled in the heart of the park, surrounded by tranquil earth tones, you'll find a mix of Italian and French dishes that everyone knows and almost always craves.

Green, greener, greenest—that's the interior of Bar Botanique. The bar is green, the walls are green, and all the beautiful plants are green. It's easy to relax here during your brunch.

There's one very good reason to go for brunch at Louie Louie in Oost: the Louie Louie Torta Cubana. With chorizo, ham, pulled pork, avocado, tomato, jalapeño, cheddar, and smoked mozzarella (and yes, they have many other delicious dishes on the menu too). ;-)

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢
Straight from the airport to this little place to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei, you go to a Soy Milk Shop for breakfast. Warm soy milk to eat in a bowl, and steam baskets with the tastiest dumplings and baozi. You can really wake me up for this kind of breakfast. These local breakfast spots come in all shapes and sizes, from Michelin-recommended spots to hole-in-the-wall stalls.
Most soy milk shops open early (and sometimes even 24 hours a day), and these are the dishes you want to try:
🥄 Warm soy milk
🥢 Soup dumplings (you can often choose between pork and veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - a kind of fried donut stick)
🥢 Youtiao (油條) w/ pork floss & rice
🥢 Turnip cake
🥢 Chives pancake
🥢 Scallion pancake
TIP: Sharing is a good idea to taste as much as possible, because the portions are (often) large.
You'll want to remember these soy milk shops for your future trip to Taipei:
📍Fuhang Soy Milk
📍Soy Milk Shop
📍Yong He Soya Milk King (Da'an)
📍Sihai Soy Milk
I am currently touring Taiwan, and you can also find all the tips in my Stories Highlight.
Have you ever been to Taiwan? I'm curious if you thought it was *that* amazing!

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away.
During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies, where there is plenty to do.
• A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea.
· Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round.
· Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting.
Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold right now, but there is plenty to do.
• The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!).
Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure.
