Home-brewed beers on tap at Brouwerij de Prael Amsterdam

In the narrow alleys of the Red Light District, Brouwerij de Prael suddenly appears. A hidden gem that always buzzes with charm. With its vintage furniture, it feels like one big cozy living room, making you feel right at home. An added bonus: you can see the craft brewery from the tasting room. And you can sample that very beer at Brouwerij de Prael. Here, they only tap beer from their own brewery! What sets Brouwerij de Prael's tasting room apart is its extensive menu. Naturally, it's filled with delicious snacks, because after all, a good glass of beer tastes even better. The evening menu will surprise you! With dishes as diverse as "grandmother's stew," "fish & chips," and "pasta vongole." Sounds good, right?

Lazy Sunday at De Prael Brewery

But at Prael, it's not all about beer. On a lazy Sunday, we met brewer Fer Kok, who told us about the golden combination of working with people and beer. Thirteen years ago, he started the brewery to combine brewing beer with working with people who are distanced from the labor market. One works seven days a week, the other seven minutes. But everyone is part of the same big family, something reflected in the easy-going atmosphere. Secretly, I'm always curious where the Amsterdam brewers themselves enjoy a beer on their days off. Fer likes to visit 'In de Wildeman' and 'Bar Joost', where they have a wide selection of beers on the menu. But... on Fridays, he prefers to drink beer in his own tasting room!

Tip: Fancy a full day in the red light district after a beer tasting at Brouwerij de Prael? We've selected the best hotspots in the Red Light District, including restaurant Anna, which is also the favorite restaurant of the men behind Brouwerij de Prael!
