21 hotspots in Brooklyn (New York) you should know!

Brooklyn New York Guide for the perfect day in Williamsburg!

I LOVE Brooklyn! When I’m in New York this is the borough that you’ll find me most of the time. I now know where the fun places are by heart and I even know a couple of ‘regulars’ that I’d go to on every trip! The most known neighbourhoods of Brooklyn are Williamsburg and Dumbo. Even if you’re not that adventurous, I am sure that you will love the hotspots of this fine little bit of New York as much as I do.

When I’m thinking of Brooklyn, I also immediately think of one my favourite specialty beers Brooklyn Lager! They’re also available at the Albert Heijn now, but I drank my first one at The Meatballs Shop at Bedford Avenue. Definitely a fun spot for if you want to eat the most delicious meatballs of New York for a small price. And in the morning? Start your day with coffee at Toby’s Estate on North 6th Street. One of the best coffee places in Williamsburg where you, if you’re lucky, can sit down in front of the entrance to catch some sunlight.

For brunch I would recommend Colette, Marlow & Sons, Juliette (with a lovely rooftop!) and Maison Premiere. Order a cocktail during brunch to have a proper boozy brunch like a real local! In the evening you can grab a bite at Reynards in the Wythe hotel, Five Leaves, Rosarita or Shelter Pizza (where they by the way have so much more than just pziza!). Feel like having a snack when you’re just having a drink? Then keep an eye on the oyster happy hour from Rosarita’s Fish Shack and Maison Premiere! After dinner, I highly recommend going to Verboten for a nice cocktail.

A market that you can’t miss when you’re in Brooklyn is Smorgasburg. I personally like the one in Williamsburg the most. I always go there whenever I’m in New York! The lobster roll is my favourite snack. So delicious! Quite expensive, but it’s definitely worth it ;-).

What’s also really fun is to do a tour that goes to the local breweries in Brooklyn. Have a glimpse inside at the Brooklyn Brewery where my favourite beer is made! They also have an amazing tasting room there where you can have a couple of drinks and parties are organised regularly.

If you love street art then I can also recommend you to take a street art tour in Williamsburg! There’s a lot of work from Roa in Brooklyn, my favourite street artist!

It probably won’t come as a surprise that you can have an amazing time shopping in one of the most trendy neighbourhoods in Brooklyn. Bedford Avenue is full with cute boutiques just like Grand Street and North 6th Street do. My favourite locations at Grand Street in Williamsburg are the concept stores Bird and Life Curated. I wouldn’t mind buying everything there! Too bad the Dollar is so strong right now :-(.

At Bedford Avenue there’s a tiny shop Catbird that’s a lovely place to go. If you’re looking for something more special for your jewellery collection then Norbu Bujoux and Brooklyn Charm are shops that you definitely have to visit! On North 6th Street Artists & Fleas is a hotspot that you definitely can’t miss for the best vintage items and items from local designers. If you’re looking for something cool for your house then you can find some inspiration at A&G Merch.

Sleepovers at Williamsburg are the best at the design hotel The Whyte. I’ve already mentioned the lovely bistro on the ground floor, but perhaps what’s even more fun is to have a drink at the bar. There’s an amazing view over Brooklyn and Manhattan!  Also good to know: during the summer the Whyte hotel has an incredible rooftop bar.

Tip: Aside from these hotspots there are still many other great locations in Williamsburg to explore. Looking for more inspiration for New York?
