3 x our favourite trendy hotels in Toronto where you’ll want to stay

31 July 2017

looking for a boutique, design or hipster hotel in Toronto?

We just got back from Toronto and to be fair… wat a lovely city this is. There are several nice boutique hotels in Toronto and I sometimes really got the New York-feeling, sometimes the LA-feeling without the palmtrees and even a hint of Chicago melancholy. It was so nice. Great to be back in a North American city again. I’ve been in Canada before, know the cities Vancouver, Victoria and Calgary and I’ve got to say that Toronto is very different. And very cool. There’s a good food scene, the city consists of seperate districts that feel like a village on its own and you can find literally everything there. Are you looking for a nice and trendy hotel in Toronto? In this blog I’ll line up three favourite boutique and design in Toronto of mine for you!

3 x the nicest boutique and design hotels in Toronto

Drake Hotel: Without a doubt the most trendy hotel in Toronto. Even when you’re not staying here I recommend you to go. For lunch, or for cocktails on the rooftop for example. With a mere 19 rooms it feels anything but massive here. Book your room on time if you want to stay here! The whole hotel is full of art everywhere and it has that lovely eclectic feeling and creative vibe. They have an event almost everyday so make sure to check the agenda. The rooms are all uniquely decorated by artists and have that nice urban feel which I so love. The location of the Drake Hotel in Toronto is also perfect. It’s situated on the Queen West street around the corner of all the trendy restaurants!

Thompson Hotel: Are you in Toronto in the middle of the summer? In that case the Thompson Hotel is the perfect stay, because they have a rooftop pool here! Toronto is known for its super cold winters (I wouldn’t recommend you to go here with -20 degrees) and hot summers where it can be around 30 degrees just as easy. I personally love cities in the summer, but I do want a hotel with a rooftop pool then. And for one of the best rooftop pools in Toronto you have to go to the Thompson Hotel. With a view of the CN Tower! And they regularly have nice parties here on Sunday when it’s the summer. The rooms have a nice view of the skyscrapers if you’re a little lucky, and are modernly decorated with a bathroom full of marble and a lovely bath!

Shangri-La: If budget’s not an issue you’re in for a treat staying at the Shangri-La. Even if it’s only because they have a Momofuku restaurant at the Shangri-La hotel in Toronto! Now you’ll probably get why I can recommend this. Furthermore, expect all the luxury you can imagine at the Shangri-La. The interior is dark and Asian chique would be my best describtion. Definitely don’t forget your bikini, because they have a lovely inside pool and a nice spa here. That makes this hotel perfect if you do decide to visit Toronto in the winter. Because what is better than coming home after a day in the city and hop into the sauna?
