Barcelona is one of my favorite cities, and I have been there several times already. It is the largest city in Catalonia, and there are so many great hotels to be found. From luxury hotels with rooftop pools to retro hostels, you can find it all there!
In this update, you will find the most beautiful boutique hotels in Barcelona: from classically chic on Passeig de Gràcia to creative and relaxed in Poblenou. Hotels where design, atmosphere, and location come together. Naturally, you pay a bit more for the more luxurious hotels, but for the hotels on this list, it is certainly worth it. However, you don't have to pay a lot for a nice hotel in this city. Read on and discover the best boutique hotels in Barcelona.
A boutique hotel is usually smaller and more personal than a large chain hotel. It is not just about a good bed, but above all about atmosphere. The decor is done with attention, the location feels deliberately chosen, and the hotel often has its own unique signature. In Barcelona, that could be a monumental building in Eixample, an urban hideaway in Poble-sec, or a design hotel with a rooftop in a neighborhood where you enjoy hanging out just as much in the evening as during the day.
LOOKING FORWARD TO SUMMER! Are you also longing for warmer weather and secretly itching to book a weekend getaway on the Dutch coast ☀️? I certainly am! That’s why today I have a tip for 24 LOVELY BEACH HOTELS AND HOMES BY THE BETWEEN.
Save this post, or comment STRANDHOTEL and you will receive the complete list of all the gems directly via DM. Enjoy the weekend!

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢
Straight from the airport to this little place to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei, you go to a Soy Milk Shop for breakfast. Warm soy milk to eat in a bowl, and steam baskets with the tastiest dumplings and baozi. You can really wake me up for this kind of breakfast. These local breakfast spots come in all shapes and sizes, from Michelin-recommended spots to hole-in-the-wall stalls.
Most soy milk shops open early (and sometimes even 24 hours a day), and these are the dishes you want to try:
🥄 Warm soy milk
🥢 Soup dumplings (you can often choose between pork and veggies)
🥢 Pork baozi
🥢 Youtiao (油條 - a kind of fried donut stick)
🥢 Youtiao (油條) w/ pork floss & rice
🥢 Turnip cake
🥢 Chives pancake
🥢 Scallion pancake
TIP: Sharing is a good idea to taste as much as possible, because the portions are (often) large.
You'll want to remember these soy milk shops for your future trip to Taipei:
📍Fuhang Soy Milk
📍Soy Milk Shop
📍Yong He Soya Milk King (Da'an)
📍Sihai Soy Milk
I am currently touring Taiwan, and you can also find all the tips in my Stories Highlight.
Have you ever been to Taiwan? I'm curious if you thought it was *that* amazing!

Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away.
During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies, where there is plenty to do.
• A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea.
· Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round.
· Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting.
Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold right now, but there is plenty to do.
• The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!).
Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure.

Hotel Casa Sagnier It is located in a historic building by architect Enric Sagnier, in the heart of Eixample. The hotel feels intimate and elegant, with classic details combined with modern comfort. You are within walking distance of Passeig de Gràcia, but on a slightly quieter street. A great choice for those who appreciate a boutique hotel with history and a personal atmosphere.

This boutique hotel, Practical Rambla, is housed in a 19th-century palace on the Rambla Catalunya, in the heart of Barcelona. The building features authentic characteristics such as Baroque pillars and colorful floors, which add immense atmosphere to the hotel. The chic rooms are decorated with striking green tiles, and the interior is minimalist yet very atmospheric.

This hotel is part of the same chain as Praktik Rambla and is located in the heart of Barcelona, a five-minute walk from the Diagonal metro station. Praktik Bakery It features its own bakery (as the name suggests) where you can get delicious rolls. You can smell the croissants even before you get downstairs. Moreover, the hotel is within walking distance of many bars, so Barcelona is at your feet in the evening hours too!
Provenca 279, Barcelona, Spain

Yes, this hotel also belongs to the Praktik Hotel Group. Praktik Garden It is located close to Girona metro station, and from there you can travel to Barceloneta city beach in 15 minutes. All rooms have a balcony, and at the hotel you can relax on the terrace or in the garden.
Diputació 325, Barcelona, Spain

The last but certainly not the least hotel in the list of Praktik hotels. Praktik Vinoteca Located in the center of Barcelona, it's just a 700-meter walk from Plaza Catalunya and 600 meters from Paseo de Gracia, where you'll find a wealth of great shops. The bright, soundproofed rooms have wooden floors, creating a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Balmes 51, Barcelona, Spain

Hotel Margot House in Barcelona is a ten-minute walk from the famous Las Ramblas boulevard. All rooms in this hotel feature modern furnishings, wooden floors, and a bathtub! This hotel is ideal if you enjoy shopping and great restaurants. The neighborhood is full of charming shops and bars. Tip: Be sure to stroll back to the hotel through the narrow streets; that's where you'll find the city's true gems.
Paseo de Gracia, 46, L'Eixample, Barcelona

This hotel is a bit more expensive, but we understand why! Cotton House Hotel It has a stylish bar and its own restaurant. Enjoy Spanish tapas on the terrace, and there are many restaurants in the surrounding streets. The rooftop terrace offers stunning city views, and here you'll find the outdoor pool surrounded by sunbeds. The perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.

This hip hotel in Barcelona is one of my personal favorites. The colorful decor immediately brightens you up, and the hotel has a pleasant, laid-back atmosphere. Hotel Magatzem has 128 rooms and is located in the Eixample district. You'll have to walk a bit further to reach the city's best shopping streets; Poral de L'Àngel is 1,7 kilometers away, and Plaça Catalunya is an 18-minute walk away. In my opinion, Barcelona is the perfect city for walking, as you'll see much more of its fascinating history. But if you prefer to take the metro, that's certainly an option as well.
Calabria 128, Barcelona, Spain

This hotel is definitely one of the best boutique hotels in Barcelona. Hotel Casa Bonay Located in the center of Barcelona, 200 meters from the Tetuanmet metro station, the hotel features a shared terrace where you can relax after a day exploring the city. All rooms at Hotel Casa Bonay are housed in a 19th-century neoclassical residential building, and the coffee served at Satan's Coffee Corner café (next to the lobby) is on many "best coffee in Barcelona" lists!
Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, Barcelona, Spain

Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona Located just behind Plaça Catalunya, it is the kind of hotel you enjoy visiting even when you aren't staying. The rooftop is a popular spot for cocktails and music during the season, while the rooms are stylish and warmly decorated. A good choice if you want to be right in the city center and appreciate a hotel with energy.
Bergara, 8, L'Eixample, Barcelona

When talking about the best boutique hotels in Barcelona, Hotel Brummell It certainly belongs in that list. This 20-room hotel is located a stone's throw from the Miró Foundation and the Grec Theatre. With just twenty rooms, a pool, sauna, and yoga classes, it feels like a small urban retreat. And did we mention the lovely interior?
Nou de la Rambla 174, Barcelona, Spain

You will find a hotel close to the Ramblas. El Palace BarcelonaFrom the outside, it is an imposing building, and this impression remains as soon as you walk inside. It doesn't get more classic than this! This hotel has two restaurants: one in the lobby and the other on the rooftop terrace. On that same terrace, you will find the outdoor pool surrounded by sun loungers, where you can relax with a magazine or a good book. The hotel also features a fitness room, a business center, and a spa.
Carretera Vallvidrera-Tibidabo 83-93, Barcelona, Spain

METT Barcelona (formerly Gran Hotel La Florida) is situated atop Tibidabo Hill and immediately offers a different perspective on the city. Instead of being right in the middle of the hustle and bustle, you are right above it here, with views over Barcelona and the Mediterranean Sea. The rooftop terrace with a swimming pool is the eye-catcher here, especially with that view. Additionally, there are two nice bars, a good restaurant, and a wellness area on-site. A great choice if you want to combine a city trip with moments of peace and comfort.

The Hoxton, Poblenou is perfect for those who already know Barcelona and want to stay in a different neighborhood for a change. Poblenou is creative, a bit edgier, and is close to the beach. The hotel features warm, retro rooms, lively restaurants, and a rooftop pool with views of the Sagrada Família and the sea.
Avenida Diagonal, 205, Sant Marti, Barcelona

Anyone who frequently books unique hotels is likely familiar with platforms like Small Luxury Hotels, Design Hotels, Mr & Mrs Smith, and Michelin Hotels. They are handy if you are specifically looking for hotels with character, striking interiors, or good restaurants. Especially in a city like Barcelona, where the selection is vast, these types of collections help you find the addresses that truly suit your trip more quickly.
If you are visiting Barcelona for the first time, choose Eixample or the area around Passeig de Gràcia. You will be centrally located, in a beautiful setting, and close to many restaurants and shops. For a romantic weekend, I would look at Serras Barcelona, Margot House, or Cotton House Hotel. If you prefer a more creative and less classic way to travel, Hotel Brummell and The Hoxton, Poblenou are more enjoyable choices.
When booking, also pay close attention to the neighborhood. Barcelona seems compact, but the atmosphere varies greatly from area to area. Eixample is elegant and practical, El Born is lively and historic, Poblenou feels younger and is closer to the beach. And if you mainly want peace and a view, Tibidabo is a nice place to stay.
