Bodyart is MORE THAN TATTOOS… DISCOVER IT IN THE TROPENMUSEUM!
The Tropenmuseum is one of my favourite museums in Amsterdam. With treasures from all over the world, and changing exhibitions that are really worth going to. Like Bodyart! Because decorating your body is super hot and that’s something we’ve noticed lately, and as well how accepted tattoos are lately. But Bodyart is more than just tattoos and the new exhibition in the Tropenmuseum shows that very well. Good news for everyone who has a tattoo… during the openingsweekend op April 1 and 2 you can go in for free if you show your tattoo. Cool!
A few years ago the exhibition Bodyart was also in the Tropenmuseum, and now because of it’s success, it’s time for another edition. I remember what caught my eye last time when I entered; the film about the man with the skeleton tattoos. Maybe seen it ten times, and it remains impressive!
NEW IN THIS EXHIBITION: MY BODYART
A new part of this exhibition is “My Bodyart”, full of personal stories about tattoos. What is the story behind a tattoo and what does body decoration mean to someone? Next Summer I will have my first tattoo done. I’ve thought about it a lot, because I can imagine that it will end up as an entire sleeve. An art piece that I’ll be working on during my travels.
During Bodyart the bodyart that is used to express ones identity will be central. It’s very unique to see something like this together, very breathtaking! From covered scars to burn wounds, and implants. From all over the world and from every culture. You really just have to see it yourself.
You can do this until July 30 2018 in the Tropenmuseum!
Tip: with the Museum card you can see Bodyart for free.
