There are events for which I routinely block out my calendar every year. Bite of Amsterdam is one of them. Not only because you can discover more restaurants here in one afternoon than you normally would in a month, but also because the festival has become much more than just food. From workshops and wine pairings to cocktails, Chef's Tables, and new culinary talents.

I have listed the reasons not to miss this year for you!

1. You taste dishes from restaurants where you normally need a reservation.

The best thing about Bite? You don't have to choose. Instead of one restaurant for one evening, you can hop between different cuisines here throughout the afternoon and evening. There are more than twenty restaurants and chefs on the premises that together form a menu you normally never find in one place.

This year, you can sample dishes from The Jollof Club, the new ROTATE, Restaurant Vermeer, Restaurant Blauw, Bar Brasserie OCCO, Daalder*, Showw*, BISOUS, Visaandeschelde, and Jondani, among others. And all without having to reserve a table months in advance.

2. Dishes are available starting from €7,50

What makes Bite so great is that you aren't immediately tied to an extensive menu. Precisely because dishes are available starting from just €7,50, you can try many different things. My advice? Share as many dishes as possible with friends, your date, or your lover. That's how I managed to taste almost everything last year, and on the second day, I went straight for my favorites ;-).

3. The Michelin Chef's Table is an experience in itself

For those who enjoy seeing what happens behind the scenes of a top restaurant, the Michelin Chef's Table is one of the highlights of the weekend. Here, renowned chefs cook their signature dishes in an intimate setting where you literally have a front-row seat.

Tim Golsteijn from Bougainville* and André Gerrits from 't Amsterdammertje*, among others, will be joining us. Please note that these are the parts that often sell out quickly, so reserving in advance is wise.

4. You discover new chefs before everyone knows them

Alongside established names, there is also room for new talent during the Spotlight Chef's Table. We think this is perhaps one of the most enjoyable parts of Bite this year. Here, you discover chefs, concepts, and restaurants that could soon become the new favorites of Amsterdam and the surrounding area. And by then, you will have already dined at their establishments!

5. You won't want to miss the Tuna Experience at Bar Rouge

If there is one thing foodies who enjoy a bit of a spectacle would probably book for first, it is the Tuna Experience at Bar Rouge. During this special experience, tuna is served straight off the bone, allowing you to get to know and taste every part of this enormous fish in a different way. I once ate something like this at a Japanese restaurant in New York, and it was truly special! A bit like sitting down for a Japanese omakase, but right in the middle of the Amstelpark.

6. You can get to work yourself in between meals.

Bite isn't just about tasting. All kinds of free workshops and masterclasses are also organized on the premises. You can learn how to fold dumplings, attend a cheesecake tasting, or discover how to make a good espresso martini at home with Vascobelo.

The Boretti Barbecue Cooking School is also back. Here, you will learn various barbecue techniques together with chefs, including a surprising number of vegetarian dishes. Prefer meat? Then you can visit the Meat Experience by Vlees & Co.

7. There is more attention for vegetarian foodies and families

Are you vegetarian? Then you won't have to search for the right stands yourself this year. For the first time, Bite has developed a special festival map showing all vegetarian dishes. This allows you to easily navigate from restaurant to restaurant without having to pore over every menu. I think this is a wonderful example of how an event has truly listened to its visitors to try and do even better <3.

Another great thing: Bite isn't just fun for adults. At Little Bite, mini-foodies can head into the kitchen themselves to cook, taste, and discover new flavors. While the kids are busy with their own culinary adventure, you have plenty of time to take an extra stroll past the restaurants or settle down with a glass of wine or Chandon Spritz. I always bring my son along on Sundays too, and it is precisely this combination that makes Bite one of the coziest food festivals in Amsterdam for families who enjoy going out together.

Bonus: cocktails, wine pairings, and an amuse-bouche tour of eight restaurants

As if there isn't enough to taste already, you can also join the amuse-bouche tour. With a stamp card, you walk past eight restaurants that all serve an amuse-bouche with a matching wine. You determine your own pace and order and no longer have to think about what to order.

Additionally, Bisous is opening the festival's largest cocktail terrace together with Grey Goose and St-Germain. They already had such a lovely spot last year, and I predict this could very well become one of the most popular spots at Bite! I'm definitely going to stop by :-).
