TRAVEL TIP: 5 Best VPNs for Travel

When you a trip to Ibiza Whether you're planning a date with friends or a few days in Paris with your partner, there's nothing better than kicking back and watching a good movie or series in your hotel room after a busy day. However, Wi-Fi hotspots in hotels and apartments are often open spots, even if you have to log in with a username and password.

Did you know that this means you can't surf and stream 100% safely? Even though you might think so! You're also limited in terms of series and movies on Netflix and other streaming services, because you often have a completely different selection in another country. But no worries, because you can easily solve this by purchasing a VPN. Something we used a lot during our world trip! In this article, you can read more about the best VPNs right now for all your travels.

Come with me to get breakfast in Taipei 🥢 Straight from the airport to this little spot to taste soup dumplings and so much more! That's what I call a soft landing 😉
Just back from Catalonia and I thought: I'll share some tips right away. During our road trip, we stayed two nights in the Ebro Delta. An incredibly fun stop for families and foodies alike, where there is plenty to do. · A boat trip to the Musclarium is a must! Here you eat oysters and mussels straight from the farm, in the middle of the sea. · Admire the flamingos and black ibises that can be found here all year round. · Rice is grown in the Ebro Delta all year round. For paella, but Kensho also makes sake and miso from it! You can visit them during a tasting. · Cycling along the rice fields, canoeing on the Ebro River, and visiting various beaches. It was still a bit too cold now, but there is plenty to do. · The towns are very low-key and not that exciting, but you can find fantastic local food there. From the Michelin-awarded Les Moles* to local eateries like Vermuteria Bonmarisc and Lo Tinglado. We ate a lot of fish, but also anemone fritters (a first!). Now back to work, and I’m going to create an extensive travel guide of this road trip through Catalonia, but you’ll want to save these tips for a future adventure. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { In this post, I share tips for the Ebro Delta in Spain (Delta de l'Ebre). PUUR JONNIE, an ode to Jonnie Boer. Today I had the honor of being at @delibrijezwolle for the book launch of @jonnie_en_therese. I spent the entire evening reading and browsing. WHAT A BOOK. What stories. WHAT AN ODE. Love, Nature, Pioneer, Fatherhood, Music, Jonnie's Foundation, Friendship, Suppliers, Local products, Relaxation, Entrepreneurship, Humor & The pure human being. Everything is covered, beautifully written by @joel.broekaert. With contributions from, among others, @nelsontanate, @rekkebus, @ronblaauwtje, @jorisbijdendijk, @sidney_schutte & @hvw043. Thanks for the wonderful afternoon @jonnie_en_therese 💚 PUUR JONNIE, Available from April 14 at your local bookstore (and online) 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
This is your ticket to Japan without taking a plane 🥢 @tewatashi.ams in De Pijp serves an authentic Edo-Mae Sushi Experience and is super consistent in their quality. It's the place we keep going back to when we have something to celebrate <3. In this video I'm sharing the 2 hour experience in 60 seconds. Still dreaming about the buttery ika nigiri. 🤤 ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck { one of the best authentic Japanese restaurants in Amsterdam serving premium sushi omakase in De Pijp }
𝗔 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗲́ 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆? @eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember. Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤 Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here! 📍 Eetcafé de Reiger Jordaan, Amsterdam City Center Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam. And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too! ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck
A grandma's cookbook. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home. The Sühring brothers don't cook based on trends; they cook based on memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations. @relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care. This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception. Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly? 🍴 Labskaus with caviar 🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar 🍴 Game pâté 🍴 Dry-aged Duck TIP: When you go to Sühring, reserve seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work! Follow @yourlbb for more tips you can trust. ✖️✖️✖️ 🖊️ @anne_de_buck #prinvited #bangkok #michelin #relaischateaux In this reels, I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three-Michelin-starred restaurant Sühring.

What exactly is a VPN and why is it useful?

Before I tell you more about which VPN you should get, it's good to know what a VPN is. A VPN stands for Virtual Private Network, or: a private network you set up to browse the internet more securely and privately. The biggest advantage of getting a VPN if you travel a lot, like me, is that it allows you to use public Wi-Fi hotspots more securely. The VPN ensures that all your internet traffic is sent through a tunnel, so to speak.

Where a public network is normally unencrypted, you provide that extra bit of security yourself. This helps thwart hackers and cybercriminals. This is essential, as the number of cyberattacks worldwide continues to rise daily. according to researchI've experienced this myself several times in the past, making credit card payments for things like excursions, only to have them suddenly start skimming months later. That wouldn't happen to us again! Another major advantage of a VPN is that you're more anonymous online because your IP address changes. This also gives you more freedom and gives you access to websites and services that would otherwise be blocked. For example, with a VPN in Paris or Ibiza, you can still access your favorite Dutch series and enjoy the offerings of foreign streaming services!

These are the 5 best VPNs right now:

1. NordVPN as the best VPN for travel

Now that you know more about what a VPN is, I've done some research and compiled a list of the best VPNs for travel. NordVPN has long been considered the best all-around VPN available worldwide. That's why it's the best choice for 2023. This is because the network is incredibly easy to use and has a reasonable price tag, especially with a long-term subscription. So, if you travel frequently, NordVPN is definitely a good choice for you. As an added bonus, you can use the VPN on up to 6 devices.

2. Surfshark as the rightful number two

Surfshark is another excellent VPN for frequent travelers. It's one of the fastest VPNs available and also has a user-friendly application that's easy to use. Unlike NordVPN, Surfshark doesn't have a device limit; you can use it on as many devices as you like. Surfshark also works with various streaming services, including Netflix, where you can watch shows and movies from over 30 countries. Add to that the low price, and you have a great choice.

3. ExpressVPN: Access many international streaming services

If you don't mind spending a little more per month, ExpressVPN is also a great choice. It's one of the world's largest providers, and for good reason. You get a complete VPN package with access to over 3000 stable servers. Another great feature is that you can easily stream from abroad. And once you're back home, you can still access all sorts of international streaming services with the VPN. Perfect!

4. CyberGhost as a good VPN for beginners

Still unsure if a VPN is right for you, but want to give it a try? Then CyberGhost might be a good option. This VPN is one of the more affordable options, offering a wide range of services and servers for a low price. The software is very user-friendly and has dedicated servers for streaming from abroad and for accessing American Netflix in the Netherlands. Be aware that Dutch Netflix can sometimes be a bit glitchy abroad. Fortunately, there's plenty of content on Amazon Prime and HBO Max to enjoy.

5. Private Internet Access: cheap provider

Finally, another provider that's very affordable: for less than €2 per month (as of March 2023), you can count on excellent security and a wide range of servers. Private Internet Access (PIA) was acquired in 2019 by the company that also owns ExpressVPN and CyberGhost. PIA's focus is primarily on security and privacy. As a result, some streaming services can sometimes experience glitches in the Netherlands and abroad. However, if you're looking for an affordable VPN that allows you to browse the internet extra securely while traveling, PIA's VPN is definitely a good choice.

I hope this article has helped you navigate the world of VPNs! Have fun planning your next trip.
