Teppanyaki is still relatively unknown in the Netherlands, but it's already very popular abroad. It's a method of preparing meat and fish originating from Japan and the United States, where dishes are prepared on a hot plate called a teppan. Preparing dishes on the teppan is quite the showpiece, making it perfect for a unique, cozy date with delicious food. Here you can read about our picks for the best teppanyaki restaurants in Amsterdam.
Restaurant Sazanka is an exclusive and chic teppanyaki restaurant. The chefs prepare their dishes tableside on the teppan; this not only ensures the food is incredibly fresh but also creates a wonderful spectacle. The flambéing is particularly enjoyable to watch. The staff can pair all dishes perfectly with wine or sake, of which Sazanka offers an extensive selection. You'll find teppanyaki restaurant Sazanka in the Okura Hotel in De Pijp.

Hosokawa is a beautiful and excellent restaurant, and it's no wonder it's recommended by the Michelin Guide. The food is delicious and freshly prepared, both from teppanyaki and robatayaki, a Japanese barbecue. They also offer delicious fresh sushi; something for everyone. The restaurant is modern and refined, and guests receive a great deal of personal attention from the chefs. Teppanyaki and Sushi restaurant Hosokawa is located on Leidseplein, the perfect spot for drinks after a leisurely dinner in one of the many surrounding establishments.

Tomodachi Teppanyaki is a brand-new restaurant in the center of Amsterdam. It's small but incredibly charming, thanks in part to the personal attention each customer receives from the chef and owner. The menu changes at least seasonally, and the unique dishes are freshly prepared for you. And the dishes? They're delicious; we're especially fond of the Black Tiger Shrimp! We've also found the fresh lobster to be more delicious than anywhere else. Definitely recommended. You'll find Tomodachi Teppanyaki on Utrechtsestraat, in the center of Amsterdam.
