A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?

🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.

Important to know:
– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.

Patagonia BeachPatagonia is located at the beginning of the idyllic Zwarte Pad (Black Path) in the Scheveningen dunes. We could go to Patagonia every day just for the fantastic menu; we especially love the appetizers. Patagonia is beautiful and trendy, and a real hotspot for surfers and other water enthusiasts.

NaturalAt the end of Zwarte Pad, you'll find Naturel. Naturel boasts a white, minimalist interior, perfect for fun Instagram photos. The food at Naturel is, according to the restaurant, pure, honest, and a little quirky. So be sure to browse the menu and discover some fun and unique dishes. Naturel also occasionally offers yoga classes, so don't miss those.

Hart BeachHart Beach isn't just a great beach club; it also doubles as a surf school. Here you can get surfing lessons and the necessary surf gear. But the club doesn't just attract surfers; everyone from The Hague who loves the sun can be found here. Our recommendation? The delicious acai smoothies and acai bowls. And, this place is open year-round. A perennial favorite!

The Fat MermaidThe Fat Mermaid is located on Scheveningen's North Beach. It's best known for its "Fat Fridays" during peak season, where you can find the best parties in Scheveningen every Friday. The interior is simple but attractive, and the menu features local and organic dishes.

Het PuntjeEven with 30 degrees and blazing sunshine, Het Puntje is still quiet, which is a bonus because this delightful spot is tucked away behind the Noorderstrand beach. This is a truly traditional Dutch spot, popular with locals since the 50s. Het Puntje is the place to go for a traditional, fun day at the beach. The menu is trendy, with almost no meat and only local ingredients. Be sure to try a slice of pie here, too, because Het Puntje's pies are the second-best homemade pies in the world.

Strandtent Solbeach ScheveningenBeach bar Solbeach is located right on the Scheveningen boulevard. Solbeach offers a typical beach bar menu, with specials straight from the North Sea. The terrace is stylishly decorated, and in our opinion, the service is the friendliest in Scheveningen. You can also rent beach loungers here so you can truly soak up the Scheveningen sun.

The ShoreThe Shore in Oud Scheveningen is the most sustainable beach club on this list. The terrace is plastic-free, and the interior is filled with beautiful coastal wood. The menu is also sustainable, with all dishes being organic and refined sugar-free. We especially love the pancakes. The atmosphere is cozy and laid-back, but The Shore is also the perfect place for a fantastic party!

Beach pavilion SouthZuid is located on Zuiderstrand, just past the fishing harbor. This makes this beach pavilion a bit more exclusive and further away from the tourists than the other establishments. A true locals' spot! The interior has a touch of vintage, and the menu is extensive. Especially after a long walk on the beach through the dunes of Westduinpark, a drink or a leisurely brunch is well-deserved. Looking for something different? Then head to Strandpaviljoen Zuid.

Xiringuito ScheveningenXiringuito in Old Scheveningen is characterized by Spanish influences, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the beach club. The dishes on the menu are inspired by the Mediterranean region and are characterized by the simplicity and purity of the ingredients. Our recommendation? Xiringuito has a surprisingly delicious house wine; definitely try it!

By WaterreusIn Old Scheveningen, you'll find De Waterreus, a true Scheveningen institution among locals. It's no wonder this establishment has already been named Beach Pavilion of the Year. De Waterreus is the perfect spot for a leisurely dinner on the coast. The interior is elegant and modern, and some tables offer a direct view of the sea and beach. During peak season, they also offer a variety of fun workshops, from cocktail classes to farmer's golf; you can enjoy yourself here all day long.

Beach club IndigoBeachclub Indigo might just be our favorite. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, and the terrace feels like you're in a Thai beach club. Even in the evenings, it's wonderful to sit here with its illuminated lanterns and fire poles. Indigo is known for its delicious burgers—don't miss them! You'll find Indigo on the hidden "Zwarte Pad" in the dunes. They also host fun themed parties during peak season, with Indiburn and hysterical 90s parties as highlights. Highly recommended!

BarbarossaBarbarossa Beach is located on the idyllic Zwarte Pad path in the Scheveningen dunes. This means you'll have a wonderfully exclusive setting at Barbarossa, yet still have a view of the pier. The beach club's interior is elegant and nautical, a little piece of island in the chilly Netherlands. The menu is full of fresh dishes with a Mediterranean or Asian touch. You can also rent sunbeds by the sea. In short, perfect for a tropical day at the beach.
