A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.

– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.

Bernie's Beach Club: A beach club with two inviting pools, one of which is heated, a great bar, and finally, comfortable sun loungers to relax on all day long. The chef worked as a sous chef at a Michelin-starred restaurant for 14 years, so you can probably guess what kind of delicious food awaits you here.

Tulum: This beach club has become one of my absolute favorites when it comes to beach clubs in the Netherlands. A lovely, relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, and you really feel like you're on an exotic beach instead of Noordwijk!

San Blas: Named after the San Blas Islands in Panama, it feels tropical here too! A nice bonus: this spot is the first of the Netherlands' beach bars to be open year-round. So it's also highly recommended for a winter beach day!

Club Zand: This beach club in Castricum will make your day stress-free in no time. A rustic, green, laid-back spot where you can enjoy a delicious lunch, snacks, and a glass of wine, and even enjoy live music on Fridays. Keep an eye on Club Zand's Facebook page for the artists!

Parnassia: A lovely spot on a quieter beach in Overveen. It's just a short drive from Haarlem. They offer a wide selection of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.

Tijn Akersloot: This spot has quickly become one of the most popular beach clubs in the Netherlands—and for good reason. A great menu, a huge terrace, and comfortable loungers on the beach itself. What more could you ask for?

In the morning, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast with a healthy green shake or a good cup of coffee, and in the afternoon, enjoy a glass of wine and, yes, one of the homemade cakes. Tip: go for a Whoosah combo; a large platter with various appetizers to share.

Ubuntu Beach: The same owners as Hippie Fish have had this lovely beach club for years. It's a great spot with delicious food, and one of my regular go-tos when I'm in Zandvoort.

Beach Pavilion North: The great thing about this beach club is that they've decorated their spot with a mix of old and new. The result is a great mix and a place where you feel completely at ease.

Beachclub Perry's: Maybe not a place you'd normally visit, since it's all the way in Zeeland. But it's definitely worth it! The menu is packed with delicious dishes, so choosing will be a tough one.

Outside: This beach club is located on Zwarte Pad, just off the Boulevard. This spot is considered one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in Scheveningen. Visit this beach club in the Netherlands for a delicious lunch or dinner, or relax in one of the lounge areas in the afternoon and enjoy the best music.

Brooklyn Beach: Every year I resolve to go there more often, to the beach at Domburg in Zeeland. The area where Brooklyn Beach is located is often less crowded, and you really feel like you're out for a day. Brooklyn Beach is my regular go-to when I'm there; it's a great spot!

{closed} Pure C: Just within the Netherlands, near the Belgian border. If you have something to celebrate, this is a must! This is Chef Sergio Hermans' second restaurant (who we know from the all-time favorite The Jane), so the food is more than good!

Beachclub at Sea: At the front of Kijkduin, where Beachclub at Sea once stood, you'll now find Beachclub La Parade. A bright beach pavilion with unobstructed views of the beautiful Zuiderstrand. Also fun in Kijkduin is the child-friendly Titus Beachclub.

Surf: This beach club in Noordwijk is the perfect place to relax and unwind. It's the perfect spot to soak up the sun after a walk on the beach with your partner, friends, or even grandparents.
