Dimmed lights, candles on the table, delicious food and a cozy interior... you're in the right place at these romantic restaurants in Amsterdam.
What are the best romantic restaurants in Amsterdam, you ask? They're spread throughout the city. From La Maria to Tannay, Gertrude, and Gebroeders Hartering: these are the most romantic restaurants in our capital.
You'll be hard-pressed to find a more inviting spot in Amsterdam than Watergang. There are few tables here, and the relaxed atmosphere invites you to dine for a long evening. They serve a five-course surprise menu. Dietary requirements are welcome, but the menu is not vegan-friendly. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, they serve a delicious four-course lunch – highly recommended, in our opinion.

La Maria in the Rivierenbuurt neighborhood is tiny, yet incredibly romantic. They serve a simple (but delicious!) menu of pizza, wine, and tiramisu. Because when something is perfect, it doesn't have to be complicated.

Just a stone's throw from Amsterdam Central Station and the picturesque Prinseneiland, you'll find Tannay. Formerly known as De Gouden Reaal, it's been completely renovated. Grab a spot at the bar, where you can watch the chefs create their unique French dishes live. It's only a matter of time before this place earns a Michelin star.

Another top spot in the heart of Amsterdam for a romantic dinner: Gebroeders Hartering, a well-known name in Amsterdam and the surrounding area for years. Inspired by the table d'hôte concept, they serve multiple courses of French cuisine. The historic building makes this place even more iconic.

The Utrechtsestraat is a pleasant place to be, thanks in part to The jewelerDespite the high standard, they don't work with fixed menus with many courses; you can simply choose from the menu whatever you fancy at the moment. And that's refreshing, isn't it?

Step inside Auberge and you'll instantly feel like a god in France, because they truly capture the French atmosphere here—and not just with the menu. The terrace—completely Parisian in style—is perhaps one of the most charming in De Pijp, despite (or perhaps because of) its location right on Albert Cuypstraat. You get the idea: one of our favorite romantic restaurants in Amsterdam.

Bar Centraal (near the Ten Katemarkt) is incredibly cozy and wine is the star of the show. That's bound to be a success, right? You can dine from a set menu or à la carte and easily spend the whole evening there. Perfect for a never-ending date, really.

Restaurant Europa in Amsterdam Noord is an eclectic venue. Dine at a high, zigzag bar, creating cozy nooks and crannies, making it the perfect spot for a date. From the bar, you get a glimpse into the kitchen. The multi-course dinner is paired with exceptional wines. After dinner, you can stroll over to one of the nearby bars.

The Willem has a restaurant and café area. Dine in the restaurant for the perfect date night. Here, you'll enjoy a multi-course dinner from a chef's menu with excellent wine pairings. The atmosphere is slightly more formal than the café area, but this place is just as cozy.

Calisto Located on Haarlemmerdijk, it's part of the adjacent hotel, owned by the same people who own Binnenvisser, among others. It's a cozy spot with plenty of tables for two, but the bar and high tables also make it a great date night spot. The pastas are a welcome bonus, as are the homemade cocktails and excellent wine.

Café Parlotte is a cozy bistro on Westerstraat, where French cuisine takes center stage. The dishes are small and perfect for sharing, and a chef's menu is also an option. The staff are true wine connoisseurs and will take the time to offer expert advice.

Gertrude is quintessentially French and is located on one of Amsterdam's most beautiful streets (Bosboom Toussaintstraat in West). Step inside and you're immediately enveloped in romance and coziness. At Gertrude, the dishes are meant to be shared and inspired by French classics. You'll enjoy them on vintage tableware, as if you were in Paris or the French countryside.

Trees is a delightful addition to the Zeedijk, named after a famous resident of the street who passed away a few years ago. It's a culinary tribute to the "real" Trees. Dine at the chef's table or at one of the cozy tables overlooking the water. They offer a frequently changing four- to six-course menu.
