If you love good restaurants, Yogyakarta on Java, Indonesia, is the place to be. Yogyakarta is a lovely city where you can easily spend a few days during a tour of Java. During the day, relax by the pool or visit one of the beautiful temples and palaces, and in the evening, enjoy a delicious meal at one of the city's many hotspots. Don't expect it to be as hip as Bali, but there's definitely something happening in Yogyakarta when it comes to restaurants. In the few days I was there alone, I spoke with several entrepreneurs who had just opened new businesses on the trendy Jl. Prawirotaman street in the Prawirotaman neighborhood of the same name. In this blog post, I'll list my favorite restaurants in Yogyakarta for you!
Via Via: A must-see restaurant in Yogyakarta is Via Via. This restaurant is perfect for vegetarians! Not only is the food at this hotspot delicious, but the interior is also charming. Lots of wood, street art on the walls, and they also serve alcoholic drinks. It was one of the first places I went to in Yogyakarta and definitely one of the nicest! Be sure to order the eggplant dish.

Ruang Seduh Jogja #RSJ: This is without a doubt the hippest coffee shop I've been to in Yogyakarta. It could easily have been in Tokyo or Seoul. They brew slow-brewed coffee with precision! The interior is bright and white, and this coffee spot is especially popular with local hipsters.
