Middelburg, the city where I was born and raised (and which I couldn't escape quickly enough to go to university), has stolen my heart again in recent years. Young entrepreneurs have opened new restaurants where you'll want to dine, but you'll also want to explore the long-standing classics. In this list, we've compiled the best restaurants and other great food spots in Middelburg for you in one overview. Enjoy!

@eetcafe_de_reiger is the spot to remember.
Cozy, casual, and a seasonal menu. This one was on my list to share for a year and finally it's (almost) asparagus season again! 🤤
Another plus? Prices are very reasonable here!
📍 Eetcafé de Reiger
Jordaan, Amsterdam City Centre
Save this spot for when you're craving warm Dutch traditional dishes in the heart of Amsterdam.
And did you hear the same team took over Eetcafé van Beeren? I can't wait to go there too!

A cookbook from Grandma. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home.
The Sühring brothers do not cook based on trends; they cook from memories. Of their grandmother's farm, of the flavors of their youth in Germany, and of techniques passed down through generations.
@relaischateaux invited me to experience Sühring during a solo lunch, and this is truly my ultimate definition of culinary self-care.
This was a surprising afternoon in Bangkok, where I ate the best German food I have ever tasted. And that in a city where I normally avoid European restaurants. Well, for @restaurant_suhring, you really want to make that exception.
Signature dishes that I still think back to regularly?
🍴 Labskaus with caviar
🍴 Enleta waffle with Pfalz vinegar
🍴 Game pie
🍴 Dry aged Duck
TIP: If you go to Sühring, reserve the seats at the kitchen bar so you have a view of the chefs at work!
Follow @yourlbb for more tips you can trust.

In this reels I take you along for fine dining in Bangkok at the three Michelin starred restaurant Sühring.

This is one of the nicest free outings in the spring! Did you know that you can gather (or pick, for the connoisseurs 😉) oysters yourself in various places in the Netherlands? I’m in Zeeland for a bit this weekend, and if we can, we’ll go again.
📍In this video, I show where you can fill your bucket.
Comment oester for the comprehensive guide with all details about all 8 locations + handy tips and rules.
Important to know:
– Max. 10 kilos per person (≈ 1 bucket)
– For personal use only
– Do not scoop or scrape the soil
– Go at low tide
Handy to take with you:
Bucket, screwdriver, boots, work gloves, tea towel, clean clothes and garbage bags (for the oysters and dirty clothes).
And of course: also bring an oyster knife, lemon and champagne 🍋🥂Because you want to taste something right away!
The oyster season runs from September to about April / early May, so now that the water isn't so cold, this is the perfect outing.
In the full guide, I share exactly where you can easily find them without much effort. Leave a comment and I'll send it to you right away!
Who do you want to go oyster collecting with soon?

Café Cliche's main location is in Amsterdam, but that doesn't mean the Middelburg location isn't worth a visit. Quite the opposite, the food is incredibly good. The varied menu features a variety of flavorful dishes, often with an Asian twist. The dishes are meticulously presented, and the flavors of the ingredients blend beautifully. Moreover, the warm interior creates a homey atmosphere. Café Cliche is a place where you can always enjoy a good meal and that might just become your new favorite!

Located in the historic center of Middelburg is Restaurant Scherp. This charming restaurant combines historic character with a modern vibe. This delightful mix is also reflected in the menu. Classic dishes feature the finest Zeeland ingredients and trendy Asian seasonings as a finishing touch. The result is (sometimes) spicy flavor explosions that make a huge impression. As the name suggests, restaurant Vert is a restaurant with a green heart. Vegetables take center stage here. Most ingredients come from their own vegetable garden or from the surrounding region. The menu features light, refreshing dishes complemented by a delicious glass of natural wine. Vert also offers homemade non-alcoholic drinks. You can enjoy these healthy drinks in peace on the secluded terrace. This courtyard is surrounded by plants, making you instantly forget you're in the city center. Vert is a wonderfully pleasant surprise and definitely deserves a spot on the list of great restaurants in Middelburg.

Zweeuwse Streken is definitely a must-try in Middelburg. This incredibly cozy restaurant with a colorful interior serves delicious dishes. The chef uses only local produce: fish caught by local fishermen, game from the hunter, and vegetables from the farm just down the road. The pure flavors of the ingredients are impressive. The chef avoids overly elaborate dishes, opting instead for simple classics with intense flavors. Each dish seems to surpass the last. Zweeuwse Streken is a true asset to Middelburg and elevates local gastronomy to a new level.

The list of best restaurants in Middelburg naturally includes an Asian gem. Ukiyo, Japanese for "floating world," is known for its delicious and authentic sushi. Besides the well-known maki and sashimi, the menu also features several surprising discoveries. It's the ideal place to explore Japanese cuisine and embark on a culinary journey. Ukiyo's goal is to offer its guests a setting where they can fully relax. Alcohol is therefore not available, as the owners feel it's not appropriate. Ukiyo is a unique concept in Middelburg that could well become a true hotspot.

When we have something to celebrate with the family, we do it at Restaurant Scherp in the picturesque Wijngaardstraat. Here, Chef Mart cooks with the finest ingredients the province has to offer. You can dine à la carte, but it's more fun (and even more delicious) to choose one of the set menus with paired wines.

Certainly not a hotspot, but believe me, you'll want to know this place. I was already coming here as a high school student, and even now, I never miss this place on any visit to Middelburg. Why? Because they have the most delicious frozen yogurt here. Trust me, you'll want to try it for yourself! With a bit of luck, it'll be on the lovely terrace at the Vismarkt when the weather is nice.
