The lobby is truly designed for guests to sit in or do some work, and the rooftop is also super beautiful and even has a corner with a view of Taipei 101. The interior features a lot of wood, soft fabrics, and clear Japanese influences. Another nice touch is the bicycles that guests can use for free. Outside, you walk straight into the neighborhood, past coffee bars, cocktail spots, and restaurants where you can easily discover something new every evening. Good to know: the hotel has a MICHELIN Key. I booked two nights here and would stay again in a heartbeat!

This is a great budget tip that is also in a good location. United Hotel It is located close to Taipei 101 and Taipei Arena, making it easy to explore different parts of the city from here. The rooms are clean and simply furnished, but comfortable, and from some rooms you have a direct view of Taipei 101. That view remains nice, especially in the evening. For the price-quality ratio, I found this hotel to have one of the best breakfasts I ate during my Taiwan tour. And the lobby is also hip and beautifully decorated. The interior was designed by André Fu, known for some of the most beautiful design hotels in the world, and that is reflected everywhere. From the rooms, you look out over the Taipei skyline and the surrounding hills. The terrace suites are particularly special, featuring a private terrace, plunge pool, and jacuzzi with views of the city. Also nice: the hotel has an outdoor pool, wellness facilities, and multiple restaurants, making it easy to stay inside for an evening. Rong Ju focuses on Cantonese cuisine, while Mizue is the place to be for an omakase experience. It is also nice to have a drink or lunch at the restaurant by the lobby: Plume. I went there for a lovely solo lunch with a glass of wine. An oasis of calm in the city, a great vibe, and a great crowd. No wonder Capella Taipei has also received a MICHELIN Key.

At Ya Ge, the award-winning Cantonese restaurant, or the French Café Un Deux Trois, a lovely spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner if you are in the mood for luxury. Additionally, the hotel has a cocktail bar and afternoon tea lounge, which can be fun to do when it rains. Furthermore, the hotel features a large outdoor pool, extensive wellness facilities, and a spa that is perfect for unwinding after a long day in Taipei.

Wearing a swimming cap is mandatory for the pool, and you can borrow one at the front desk. Culinarily, you are also well catered for here. At Yamazato (also known from Amsterdam), the focus is on refined Japanese dishes and sushi, while Toh-Ka-Lin is known for classic Cantonese cuisine. But honestly? As soon as you leave the hotel, you will find an incredible number of delicious restaurants, so I wouldn't stay at the hotel for dinner.

Cho Hotel

Located in the Ximending district Cho Hotel, a smaller design hotel with an interior full of illustrations, art, and Taiwanese details. Despite its central location, the hotel feels surprisingly quiet once you are in your room. A great choice for first-time visitors to Taipei who prefer to stay in the city center without immediately ending up in a large hotel. The Ximending district is truly amazing and packed with shops and street food. You can really walk around here for hours and keep discovering something new.
