The Proper Hotel: This is San Francisco's hippest hotel right now. It has a beautiful lobby and a matching bar where you can enjoy drinks and food, but the Proper Hotel's rooftop is where you want to be. The weather isn't always great in San Francisco (and it can get quite foggy), but as soon as the first ray of sunshine breaks through, you'll want to be there! No sun? This rooftop also offers great indoor seating. The rooms are luxurious and stylishly furnished, and the location is very central (but be careful not to walk the wrong way from the hotel and into the seedy Tenderloin neighborhood).
1100 Market St., San Francisco
Bohemian Hotel: A lovely boutique hotel in the North Beach neighborhood, surrounded by Italian restaurants (Tony's, the restaurant with the best Neapolitan pizza in the world, is just around the corner!). The decor is excellent, and the hotel's vintage decor (so vintage it's actually fun!) is definitely charming. From the hotel, it's less than a ten-minute walk to Chinatown and a fifteen-minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf.
444 Columbus Avenue, San Francisco
Beck's Motor Lodge: You won't find anything more American than this – this hotel is completely in the motel style! It also has a small terrace overlooking the Mission District. This is San Francisco's hippest neighborhood when it comes to restaurants and bars, so if you're into up-and-coming spots, you've come to the right place.

Kimpton Buchanan: A beautiful hotel in the heart of Japantown. Besides being a charming neighborhood, this hotel also has a restaurant you'll definitely want to try! The rooms are modernly decorated with a Japanese touch. The Japantown district is very up and coming, but not yet overcrowded with tourists – which is a nice bonus.
1800 Stutter St., San Francisco
Petit Auberge: This cozy hotel is decorated entirely in French style. It's located near Union Square, so close to all the shops and therefore an ideal base if you want to do some shopping during your city break.
3312, 863 Bush St., San Francisco
Hotel Kabuki: Another hotel in the up-and-coming Japantown. This one blends Japanese charm with Western influences. Convenient for shopping addicts, it's directly connected to the Nihonmachi shopping center.
1625 Post St., San Francisco

Argonaut Hotel: This San Francisco hotel is located in the Fisherman's Wharf district and is perfect for views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Note: This is also the most touristy neighborhood!
495 Jefferson St., San Francisco
Nineteen 06 Mission: On a budget trip? Then this bed and breakfast might be an option. Bathrooms are shared, but a generous breakfast is included, and you're right in the heart of San Francisco's hippest neighborhood! A great value, in my opinion.
1906 Mission St., San Francisco
Staypineapple at The Alise: If you're looking for a bit more luxury and a super central location to explore all the city's neighborhoods, this might be the hotel for you. The hotel is decorated in Victorian style (so very San Francisco-style), and the bar is a great place for a cocktail. From here, you can be in Chinatown in no time!
580 Geary St., San Francisco
Have fun planning your trip and choosing one of these great hotels in San Francisco!
