FollowFancy a surprising city break in the Netherlands, visiting a less obvious city? Then I recommend Deventer! Last year, I stayed at Hotel Finch in the heart of the city. Because, in my opinion, a great city break isn't complete without a great place to stay, I'm sharing my recommendations for the best hotels in Deventer in this new list.
Deventer is one of the three municipalities in Overijssel with tons of great spots, as I discovered last year. If you book a hotel in Deventer, be sure to reserve a table at The Lemon Tree restaurant (you won't regret it!). My next visit to this cozy city on the IJssel River is already planned. What are my favorite hotels in Deventer? You can read about it here!
You'd think the perfect combination of luxury and tranquility doesn't exist. After all, the most luxurious hotels are often located in the city center. But Pillows hotel Deventer Pillows Hotel Deventer literally has it all. This is easily one of the best boutique hotels in Deventer. Its location on the IJssel River makes it a special getaway in itself. With views of the city center, yet still slightly secluded, it feels like you're surrounded by nature. Pillows Hotel Deventer is a gem from the outside, but the interior is also a real gem. Every detail has been carefully considered, from beautiful art on the walls to Egyptian cotton bedding. After a day of exploring the city, you're sure to unwind here. Need to burn off some energy? Then enjoy unlimited access to the gym at Pillows Hotel Deventer.

Every history buff will find something to their liking at Hotel Huis Vermeer. This beautiful 18th-century-inspired building certainly deserves a place on the list of best hotels in Deventer. You can choose from no fewer than 11 four-star rooms, each equipped with a bathtub or walk-in shower. This hotel is excellent not only for couples, but also for families. For this, you can stay in the two-story duplex suite. Here you can completely unwind and step back in time surrounded by all the 18th-century antiques. And the view from Hotel Huis Vermeer It's a real gem! Will you choose a room with a view of the IJssel River or the monumental courtyard?

When you arrive at Hotel Gaia just outside the city, you'll probably have to think twice. "Am I in Deventer or abroad?" This might just be one of the nicest and best hotels in Deventer to stay with kids. Here, you'll spend the night in a peaceful location surrounded by nature! The hotel is a bit quirky, which makes it even more fun with the kids. The rooms are decorated with themes from different countries. Would you rather be in Egypt, India, or the Caribbean? No problem! Each of the 12 spacious rooms has a different country theme. For a day of shopping or a delicious meal, you can head straight into the city from the hotel. Deventer is only three kilometers away. Also wonderful: for a relaxing day, you can use the wellness facilities. Hotel Gaia!

Prefer to stay in the heart of the city? Then you should definitely stay at Hotel Finch! I stayed here during my last weekend trip to Deventer, and this boutique hotel is truly fantastic. Despite the modern and luxurious details of this lovely hotel in Deventer, there's a lot of history hidden within the building. This is evident in the old beams and beautiful large windows. The hotel also has its own bar where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, a delicious breakfast, or a refreshing drink after a successful day in the city. In my opinion, Hotel Finch Perhaps the best hotel in Deventer for couples. Kids are certainly welcome, though! There are various room types, from cozy rooms with balconies to studios and double rooms suitable for families. A nice touch: every room has its own record player!
