Suddenly, they're popping up like mushrooms: designer vintage shops. And that's a good thing, because for a better future for our planet, we're better off buying secondhand than new. Besides, what's better than a hidden gem from the distant past, that only you own? It certainly makes our fashion hearts beat faster, and we're thrilled with the addresses below, which together form a complete overview of the best designer vintage shops in Amsterdam. Be warned: you won't leave most shops empty-handed.
No two designer vintage shops are the same, so it's wise to be prepared. While ENSO Vintage, for example, focuses on the cool, minimalist vintage aesthetic, Salon Heleen Hulsmann is the place to be for newer items looking for a second home. Gimme Glitter and Fashian offer a wide Y2K selection, and ByDanie Vintage offers a cacophony of color. It's a good way to prepare for your vintage shopping spree. Time for an overview of the best designer vintage shops in Amsterdam.
For a long time, ENSO Vintage only had a webshop, but they are now located in the heart of the city center, on the Elandsgracht (and recently they opened a branch in Antwerp as well!). The selection is fairly minimalist and features items from various eras that are always a good choice. Think Maison Margiela Tabi shoes, Gucci loafers, or Pleats Please by Issey Miyake. For the minimalists among us, this is one of the best designer vintage shops in Amsterdam.

Salon Heleen Hulsmann offers modern designer vintage that isn't necessarily vintage, but rather second-hand. Everything is of high quality, and Heleen only accepts items in good condition. You can visit by appointment for one-on-one advice, or during their general opening hours.

(Im)material on the Haarlemmerdijk is small but fine. Their selection of vintage designer blouses is particularly good: from (Yves) Saint Laurent to Burberry and many other classics. Be sure to check out the men's section as well for the ultimate hidden gems.

At Gimme Glitter—as the name suggests—it is bursting with glitter and Y2K excess. Nineties sunglasses, Gucci bags, and other items studded with logos are widely represented here. Without a doubt, one of the most eclectic and best designer vintage shops in Amsterdam.

Just like at Gimme Glitter, you will also find a wide range of Y2K designer vintage at Fashian. Especially if you love Tom Ford before the Gucci era, you have come to the right place. Are you looking for a vintage designer bag? Then you are also in the right place at Fashian.

If you love color, the ByDanie Vintage Store in Oud-Zuid is your go-to. Just like owner Danie Bles, the assortment is anything but boring. One color is even brighter than the next, and striking prints are also widely represented. Believe us, it will instantly cheer you up. Roski Yard Vintage is open by appointment only, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. This way, you can be sure you won't be crammed into a small shop with many others, and you get the time to really browse through the extensive selection of designer vintage. Because that is something you really want to take your time for at Roski Yard Vintage.

The Collectives is actually a company that rents out designer vintage clothing, but if you are truly in love with an item, you can also buy it. They have an extensive range of classics, such as Chanel jackets and bags, Hermès, Isabel Marant, and many other designers that will make your heart beat faster. Shopping or renting is by appointment.

Reverse Studio Amsterdam offers not only designer vintage, but also other high-end brands such as Sandro, Samsøe Samsøe, and Acne Studios (which, incidentally, *does* count itself as a designer brand). At this store, too, it is difficult to leave empty-handed, but that was probably not why you went in.
