The Fire Department Canteen

The Brandweerkantine is another great spot you can visit all day long, making it a great place for drinks and dinner. And despite being within walking distance of the Vrijthof square, you'll feel like you're in an oasis of calm. The dishes here are a mix of Italian and Mediterranean flavors with a Dutch twist.

Noon is located right on the Maas River, giving it one of the city's most beautiful terraces with views. While tastes are debatable, the hours of sunshine are not – and Noon offers the most of them. By 12:00 sharp, you'll want to be there for lunch, and on sunny days, you'll love to stay until well after dinner. A few favorites from the menu? The chef's sea bass ceviche, "drunken salmon," and pulled chicken.

Bold Rooftop Bar

Bold Rooftopbar is undoubtedly one of Maastricht's hippest spots for drinks and dinner. You'd almost think you were on the roof of a trendy New York venue, but you're actually in Limburg. You might be familiar with The Social Hub hotel from other cities, as this stylish bar is part of it. And that's a great place to stay.

Cafe South

In a lounge chair by the water? We wouldn't say no to that! At Café Zuid, you'll find everything you need. Besides a large terrace with tables for lunch, drinks, and dinner, there are lounge chairs and rocking chairs scattered along the water's edge. With a drink in hand, you can enjoy the murmur of the music in the background, overlooking the fountain. Now that's the perfect way to daydream.

In the Old Birdstruys

Looking for drinks or dinner in an iconic, historic location? Then you absolutely must visit In Den Ouden Vogelstruys. This spot is located in the heart of the Vrijthof square, so it's not exactly quiet, but all the more enjoyable for that. Deciphering the menu can be a challenge, though: it's written in the Maastricht dialect. The staff will be happy to help you out ;-)

The Governor of Maastricht

Craft beer enthusiasts can't wait to visit De Gouverneur Maastricht. This craft beer café has been a hit on the scene for years. Nowhere else in the Netherlands will you find a "beer tavern," except at this Maastricht location. They also serve over 300 (!) craft beers and have a large, sunny terrace.
