5 X DE BESTE SHOPPING MALLS IN HONG KONG

IFC Mall: The name speaks for itself actually, since the name means International Finance Centre Mall. The IFC is a big centre in Central that pretty much covers all things you need. IFC has office space, hotels and a shopping mall. In the shopping mall there are mainly international shops of big names that we usually only see at the PC Hooftstraat in Amsterdam or the Bijenkorf. In the IFC Mall there’s for example a real Victoria’s Secret shop (with lingerie and clothing, yay!), Chloé and Estée Lauder but also ChanelTiffany & Co. and other high end brands.

PMQ Shopping Malls in Hong Kong

PMQ: This shopping mall is a really cool one. We’re big fans! The name PMQ stands for Police Married Quarter, because the building used to function as some sort of barrack where police officers lived with their families. Nowadays it’s a super hip shopping mall where young entrepreneurs and designers opened their shops. The evening market is really nice and sometimes they also have other events and expositions. Check the website for the dates!

Harbour City:  in my opinion the easiest to find of all the shopping malls. Which isn’t very surprising, since it is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) shopping malls. And located very conveniently! You exit the metro station Tsim Sha Tsui, figure out which way the water is and just walk towards that side until you see the building. It’s hard to fail here, because at the metro station there’s even a sign that tells you where exactly you need to exit in order to go to the Harbour City. The Harbour City has just like the IFC Mall office space, hotels, shops and restaurants, but then even bigger and better.

Times Square: If you’re staying in Hong Kong a bit longer, then there’s no doubt you’ll go to the Times Square at least once. This shopping mall is a fun hotspot where all kinds of things are organised. Expositions, product and film promotions, charity events, you name it. Every year there are hundred thousands of people gathering here to countdown for the new year. Last year there was for example a Batman expo and currently Disney is having all kinds of expositions there. Gives your lover a reason to go there as well and then you can also shop a little before leaving again ;-).

APM: In Hong Kong they understand the motto “Shop until you drop” like no other, because most shops and restaurants in this city stays open until very late. Still feel like shopping some more after dinner time? Then you can hang out a little longer at APM, a shopping mall that’s open until after midnight. The shops are very diverse, with perhaps more “normal” shops and less high end. Also fun: be crazy for once and rent a karaoke room with your friends at Neway that’s located in the shopping mall!
