Google “best sandwich shops Amsterdam,” and you’ll quickly feel overwhelmed by the options. Because where should you truly go for that crispy baguette, flavorful focaccia, or a sandwich with a Dutch croquette? We did the research – these are the best sandwich shops in Amsterdam.
best sandwich shops in Amsterdam
The best sandwich shops in Amsterdam – that’s quite a question. Ultimately, taste is subjective, but despite that, quite a few sandwich shops in our capital city stand out from the rest. From classic with aged cheese to modern with a dollop of cream: get to know the absolute top spots in our capital.
Chun, Amsterdam Center
If you want to taste the incredibly delicious brioche from Chun, you should set aside an afternoon. The matcha and sandwich haven on Berenstraat went viral on TikTok, and the lines have been disproportionately long ever since. However, that doesn’t make the generously filled sandwiches any less flavorful.

Zero Zero, Amsterdam Center
Another gem in the center of Amsterdam: Zero Zero, the Schiacciata heaven. The sandwiches are incredibly fresh – they are made from sourdough after all – and are adorned with equally fresh toppings. From huge cheeses to flavorful meats: everyone finds something to satisfy their cravings here.
Zero Zero, Nieuwe Spiegelstraat 3A
Gebroeders Niemeijer, Amsterdam Center
At Gebroeders Niemeijer, you might find the tastiest bread in the city, especially when you opt for a baguette topped with aged cheese and coarse mustard. On Nieuwendijk, you’ll consistently find a long line during weekends, but don’t let that deter you: this no-nonsense establishment has mastered fast service. Without a doubt, one of the best sandwich shops in Amsterdam.

Small World Catering, Amsterdam Center
Small World Catering, located on a side street off Haarlemmerdijk, is more than just a sandwich shop but deserves nothing but praise for its sandwiches. Owner Sean runs the place with his partner and a team of friendly individuals who are passionate about good food. The sandwich with salmon fishcake is an absolute highlight, but be warned: they are so sizeable that you might prefer to share them.

Loof, Amsterdam west
Loof has quickly become a household name in Amsterdam-West and beyond. The bread from Loof is simply so good that you’d go out of your way for it. Their croissants are crisper than ever, and the raisin bun with cheese is a perfect example of how great Dutch simplicity can be.
Bakkerij Loof, Bilderdijkstraat 38
Fort Negen, Amsterdam West
Fort Negen in Amsterdam-West definitely deserves a spot on the list of best sandwich shops in Amsterdam. Fresh sourdough bread, stuffed croissants, and long queues. But anyone who has been here will gladly stand in line again.
Fort Negen, Jan Evertsenstraat 31

Dignita, Amsterdam
Dignita has several locations in the city and offers a true winner on their menu: the acclaimed Chook Norris. This sandwich is made with fluffy Japanese milk bread filled with crispy chicken and other fresh ingredients. But if you’re looking for classic eggs benedict, you’re in the right place here too.

Flo’s Appetizing, Amsterdam
From day one, Flo’s Appetizing has specialized in bagel making, which turned out to be a brilliant move. Flo’s now has three locations in Amsterdam, and it wouldn’t surprise us if they soon explore opportunities beyond the city’s borders. Their bagels are beyond anything you’ve ever tasted; the same goes for their rich toppings.
