25 December 2013

The 5 most popular hotspots of January!

We’re counting down till New Year’s Eve and since I’m celebrating Christmas in New York I thought it would be fun to do a little countdown till the new year. I will share the 5 most popular post of each month. Going through all the statistics and lists I can only say that Amsterdam is such a cool city! So many new hotspots and hotspots that last and became our favourite places where we keep going back.

5 favourites of January 2013

1. Marc by Marc Jacobs
I can’t help it! I just love Marc Jacobs bags :-). So when the new Marc by Marc Jacobs store opened at the Utrechtsestraat I was so happy. I really like the gadgets they have that are really affordable. From cute necklaces to small leather goodies. Or pif you really want to spoil yourself… a new bag!

2. The Lobster House
Located just around the corner of the Marc by Marc Jacobs store at the Utrechtsestraat you find The Lobster House. A creative hub that hosted a lot of cool parties already, but that’s not all why it’s famous in Amsterdam. It’s one of the best cash and carries for fresh seafood. Also fun: order a tuna burger to eat at the bar.

3. Baut
Baut Amsterdam is located in the former building of the Amsterdam newspaper Parool. Next t club Trouw and across the street of Doka which will be a hotel in 2014. At Baut the concept started as shared dining but now they often have a 3 to 4 course Chef’s dinner. Since I live very close to Baut I’ve been there many times and always had a great time. In the summer their terrace is one of the bests in Amsterdam.

4. Bar Spek
Amsterdam West got some new cool neighbourhood gems last year. Bar Spek is one of them! In the summer a nice outdoor terrace and in the winter it’s always cosy to meet with friends at the comfy green couch. The food is affordable and perfect for an easy dinner with friends!

5. Bluespoon
The Bluespoon restaurant is located at the beautiful Andaz hotel at the Prinsengracht. The bar is great for a cocktail after shopping at the Nine Streets! The menu at Bluespoon consists of delicious dishes of local produce. The interior is designed by Marcel Wanders and is really cool. His designs always have this fun twist, love it!
