from boutique hotels to rooftop pools and design hotels in Athens
Hotels with rooftop bars… I can’t get enough of it. Many of the best hotels in Athens have a roofterrace so you came to the right place for a city trip, if you’re into rooftops as well. As the most cuteย boutique hotelsย have a trendy rooftop bar (most of the time with a nice restaurant attached to it as well) and if you’re in a little bit of luck also a nice pool to cool off in after a day in the city. Especially if you’re going to Athensย on a holiday during the summer aย rooftop poolย isn’t an unnecessary luxury to come at ease during the hottest hours of the day and relax while dipping your toes in the water. For a city that has so many ancient beauty I’ve honestly been surprised as to how trendy the city is. You can also see this by the amount ofย trendy hotelsย in Athens. from design hotels, to boutique hotels, you can find it all and if you book on time and not go there during the high season the prices are also fairly reasonable. In this blog we’ve listed 9 of theย best lifestyle hotelsย in Athens for you.
9 x the best hotels in athens where you don’t want to check out anymore
Electra Metropolis:ย During my last trip I’ve been lucky enough to spend several nights here and the rooftop pool and the view it gives you alone makes it a recommendation. The hotel is modernly classic, is super centrally located (and next to my favourite restaurants in Athens like Ergon and Nolan) and it also has a great spa where you can use the inside pool and sauna if you’re a guest there. We’ve enjoyed breakfast there every morning while enjoying the view of the Akropolis. That’s a view I won’t easily forget and if you ask me this is without a doubt one of the best hotels in Athens.
COCO-MAT Hotel:ย This hotel kind of reminds me of a speakeasy. From the outside it looks like an ordinary matress store, but there’s more than meets the eye. Once you’re inside you take the stairs down and you enter the reception of the hotel. Above the store there are studios where you can spend the night (and you sleep on Coco-Mat matresses, of course). The hotel also has a rooftop, where you can have a drink and a bite (although they don’t really have a restaurant there, so to be fair I’d recommend you to grab dinner in the nice area!). When you’ve awaken you can compose your own breakfast downstairs that they’ll bring you at the rooftop or to your own little balcony. A recommendation, because it’s a real relaxing wake up!
Semiramis:ย A hotel franchise to remember when you’re travelling to Athens are the YES hotels. Honestly, almost all the hotels from this chain are worth staying at, but if you’re going to Athens in the summer the Semiramis establishment would be my recommendation. The Instagram-worthy pool with its pink parasols alone makes it worth the visit. The rooms are modern, light and neatly decorated.
New Hotel:ย During my first trip to Athens I stayed in the New Hotel, that had only been open for a couple of months when I checked in and popped up on all the lists of the best hotels in Athens. A lovely modern boutique hotel with a nice restaurant that is popular among locals during the weekend for brunch. The rooms are nicely spacious, light and decorated with design. The New Hotel is situated a mere 200 meters from the Syntagma Square.
A For Athens:ย Would you like to stay in a hotel with a nice view of the Akropolis, the A for Athens hotel is the right place for you. This is one of the best hotels in Athens and it has a nice rooftop bar that’s also very popular among the locals. If you’d like to have a drink here and you’re not a guest in the hotel it’s recommended to be here on time in order to get the best table! Depening on your hotel budget you can book a room at A For Athens with a jacuzzi and a view of the Akropolis. Very nice if you have something special to celebrate!
Twentyone:ย Are you into smaller design hotels you’ll probably love the Twentyone hotel. With a cozy garden where you can have a drink and modernly interiored rooms. You can find this design hotel in the Kifissia district that’s a little further outside of the centre, but it’s truly a district where you’ll live among the locals!
Periscope:ย This modern boutique hotel is located in the Kolonaki district, a more chique area in Athens. You have several cute stores in the surroundings here and delicious restaurants, like Malconi’s Italian Restaurant. The rooms at Periscope are fairly simple, but the lobby is very cozy and warmly decorated.
Athens Was:ย I think that out of all the trendy hotels in Athens this one has got to be the one with the best view of the Akropolis from the rooftop bar. It’s like you’re standing right next to it! During the day it’s already an impressive sight, but late in the evening it certainly is too. The rooms are trendy and modern and decorated with lots of wooden details and a modern touch. Without a doubt one of the best lifestyle and best hotels in Athens.
Fresh Hotel:ย This modern hotel with a beautiful rooftop pool and roofterrace is located nearby the central market of Athens. Which is a recommendation anyway when you’re in the city (in this blog we tip you 5 markets not to miss in Athens)! The rooms are basic interiored and for the sporty ones among us: the hotel also has a gym.
