mercado-san-miguel

Mercado de San Miguel, Madrid

This is one of my favorite food markets; it’s not only great to look at (what a building), but the food is also so delicious. The locals are super friendly and are glad to tell you more about the culture and the authentic dishes. The place to be for late night tapas ;-) !

La Boqueria, Barcelona

A long weekend in Barcelona? Don’t skip La Boqueria! An authentic food market where you can taste the most amazing dishes. This food market is located nearby the Ramblas, so you can easily drop by if you’re in the neighboorhood. Tip: the fresh fish here is to die for!

Torvehallerne, Copenhagen

The Torvehallerne is known as the culinary hotspot of Copenhagen. The best food, delicious drinks and gorgeous design come together, just as we are used to from our Scandinavian neighbors. This food market is opened till 20.00 on Friday nights and is a true hotspot for hipsters.

Neighbourgoods Market, Cape town and Johannesburg

If you’re following Yourlbb for a while now, you most know that I love Cape Town. This city has truly stolen my heart. The food market Neighbourgoods is just as good! It is also located in Johannesburg. Despite the exotic food, this food market is definitely affordable and not as overpriced as some food markets can be.

Spice Souk, Dubai

An authentic ‘souk’, there aren’t a lot of them anymore. I loved to visit this market, it was an amazing experience! You’re surrounded by delicious scents and you’re guaranteed to go home with some great souvenirs. I always love the colorful spices in the large bags, so pretty!  >> Discover Dubai!

Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo

Enfants rouges, Paris, food markets

Le Marché des Enfants-Rouges, Paris

Yes, even Paris has its own authentic food market. Les Marché des Enfants-Rouges is the oldest indoor market of Paris; the building used to be an orphanage and the kids used to wear red clothes, hence the name ;-) . And to be honest, I couldn’t resist the fresh fruit and tasty baked goods.

Kauppatori, Helsinki

The Kauppatori market in Helsinki is located near the old port and the presidential palace, so the view is spectacular. A good vibe and amazing food, that’s how we like it! >> Discover Helsinki!

Carmel Market, Tel Aviv

The Carmel Market in Tel Aviv must be on top of your to do list when you’re visiting this city. The food is to die for and you can also buy original souvenirs here to bring home. >> Discover Tel Aviv!

Markthalle Neun, Berlin

Markthalle Neun is located in the historic market building in Berlin, so this market has that authentic, industrial look and feel. It’s always busy and it has a trendy vibe. There are often streetfood festivals organized at Markthalle Neun. Great place for drinks and bites with friends!

Broadway Market, London

London has many food markets, but I like Broadway Market the most. Taste the local dishes and enjoy the cozy, friendly atmosphere!

Hester Street Fair, New York

I LOVE New York! I’ve visited this food market a couple of times and it’s one of the best markets of New York. You can visit this outdoor market in the summer and only on Saturday. Drinks & bites, fashion & art; so much to see!

Sunday Market, Amsterdam

We’ll end this list with an amazing food market in my own beloved Amsterdam. The Sunday Market finds place every first Sunday of the month in the Westergasfabriek. Food, fashion and art with an authentic Amsterdam touch; don’t miss it!
