Right on Spui, you will find Volendammer Haringhandel Jonk, which is the real deal. This place has been praised for its Hollandse Nieuwe for years.

Simon en Simon Vishuisje Prinsengracht
Equally well known is Simon and Simon’s fish house on Prinsengracht, near Utrechtsestraat. It is not only a hit with tourists—locals love it just as much.

Kras Haring
‘Those who know, come to Kras to eat herring’ is Kras’s slogan. Nico and Annie Kras took over the stall in 2005, and it’s been a hit ever since. This is perhaps one of the best places for Dutch herring in Amsterdam, as the spectacular view (of the Maritime Museum) alone is worth a visit.
