October 27, 2025
Last updated: October 27, 2025

A city trip to Amsterdam is always fun, even with the kids. And if you live in the city like me, there's nothing more fun than staying together in these child-friendly hotels in Amsterdam. My personal tips for a kid-friendly staycation! Enjoy a day of shopping, visiting museums, strolling along the canals, taking a boat trip, going to a playground, and eating bitterballen together. There's plenty to do with kids in Amsterdam. I've often been asked which hotels in Amsterdam are the most child-friendly, so it was time to create this (fairly) comprehensive overview for you. Because let's be honest, when you're traveling with children, you tend to pay more attention to things when booking a hotel. With a baby, you can go almost anywhere with a crib in the room, but with older children, you sometimes need that little bit extra. So read on for the best child-friendly hotels in Amsterdam.

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on with my passport to an old lady who doesn't realize it and checks it in for a flight to the UK! Now I'm stuck here in NY without my passport, and I've missed my flight. I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅. This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢 Note to self: better to take my passport with me all day, instead of leaving it 'safely' in the hotel apparently... and from now on, suitcases should be tied together with a cable in the storage room. Even if you're in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still human work. Now I'm stuck in one of the nicest cities in the world, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel as planned. 😔 To be continued 🧳✈️ And thanks for all the sweet DMs ❤️❤️❤️❤️ ✖️✖️✖️ Anne

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse one of my favorites for lunch in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is this also fun during the day with kids? We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success. Child happy, us happy… and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean this interior, I immediately dream away to the Cotswolds again! The Unbound

The Unbound is a cozy, small-scale, and trendy holiday park in Geuzenveld-Slotermeer with various chalets and studios. It's an ultra-modern and inviting park with several tiny houses. Most houses have multiple bedrooms, and some even have a living room with a kitchen complete with a dishwasher. There are also studios with one bedroom and a hot tub. The chalets have a private terrace, so children can play outside. The hotel has its own restaurant, and room service is also available. Cribs for children under 2 years old can be requested free of charge, but are subject to availability. A real plus for this modern, natural hotel is the sauna. Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam

I often get asked about budget hotels to stay with kids. And as you may have already seen in this list, most of the really nice hotels aren't the cheapest. That's why this list includes the (still relatively new) Van der Valk Hotel Amsterdam That's a far cry from the image you once had of this chain. Except for the schnitzels, that is… they're definitely the same and still on the menu. Thanks to the large number of family rooms, it's definitely a kid-friendly hotel in Amsterdam, and also more budget-friendly. The interior is modern and looks really nice, as does the restaurant. There's also a spa and a swimming pool. There are double and triple rooms, as well as family suites with bunk beds. A child's dream! The hotel has an à la carte restaurant with something for everyone. The hotel is located near Amstelpark, where there's a fun playground for kids and a wide range of activities. Motel One

Living with kids is expensive enough, so among all these luxury hotels, I'd also like to recommend a budget-friendly hotel in Amsterdam for kids. Motel One is one of the best child-friendly hotels in Amsterdam for a smaller budget. I've stayed at this chain in Berlin before, and in terms of value for money, it's truly excellent. Especially if you won't be spending much time in your room because you're exploring Amsterdam with the kids. Inn on the Lake

Inn on the Lake is an idyllic spot just outside Amsterdam in Broek in Waterland. This dreamy villa has a rustic style and is incredibly charmingly decorated. Manuel and I once cycled here from Amsterdam to stay. That alone was a wonderful experience! Besides being a romantic getaway for two, it's also a kid-friendly hotel in the countryside near Amsterdam. There are not only quadruple rooms but also a family bungalow. For €20 per night, you can add a crib, and for children up to 12, an extra bed costs €30. You'll never be bored here. There's plenty to do in the surrounding area, but also in the hotel itself. There's a hot tub overlooking the water, and you can also take a scenic boat trip to places like Theetuin Overleek.
