FROM COFFEE TO DINNER OR JUST DRINKS: BAUt PARADIJS IS THE PLACE

Last week Baut opened its newest pop-up restaurant in the east of Amsterdam. From now on you can visit Baut Paradijs for a cup of coffee in the morning, lunch, a drink in the afternoon and of course for an extensive dinner. This new hotspot is just around the corner of the Oostpoort shoppingmall located in Linneausstraat at the Paradijsplein. You can probably guess what Baut owes its name to!

Last week we visited Baut Paradijs for an elaborate try-out; of the atmosphere, and of the food as well of course. Baut Paradijs is different from the previous Baut establishments. It feels more like the first Baut, located in Wibautstraat back then, where Restaurant C is now situated. The building where they’re now located is by all means very cool, as Baut Paradijs is located in the old gas distribution station at the Paradijsplein. In my opinion it almost looks kind of like a church, with a high ceiling and beautiful windows, where you can already see chef Michiel van den Eerde busy cooking from the outside.

Once you’re inside the first thing that strikes you is the somewhat dark mural. The part where the restaurant is located is on three higher plateaus, and downstairs in the open part you can have a nice drink at the bar. It kind of gave me a homey feel. Like you’re visiting the new community center of the eastern part of Amsterdam where you can simultaneously have a really great dinner. You have a view of the open kitchen from everywhere in the restaurant, and you’re just as welcome for a drink and snacks as you are for an extensive dinner.

MENU X BAUT PARADIJS AMSTERDAM

The menu at Baut Paradijs is like we’re used to of Baut. They take you on a culinary trip through different countries, from The Netherlands to Asia with a stopover in France. This time the oysters are again prominently present on the menu and trust me when I say, you’ll definitely want to try these. I’ve told it before, but I just love gratinated oysters and they are exactly the ones they have at Baut, with mousseline, leek and Hollandaise. Great to start your dinner with!

Depending on how hungry you are, you will probably order about two dishes per person after that. You can share those, but they’re also suitable for one person. We shared of course, because I already spotted some new dishes on the menu that I definitely wanted to taste.
What my favourite dishes were? You’ll see in the pictures below!
