Bartack Amsterdam: the newest neighborhood spot in Amsterdam-West

31 October 2016

you don’t want to get up at bartack amsterdam!

When you cross the Hoofdweg and continue on the Postjesweg in Amsterdam-West, you won’t find any nice bars or cafes anymore. Okay, a few doors down the intersection you find IJsmanschap on your right, but it’s actually quite surprising that – so close to the Rembrandtpark – a fine retreat in the form of a bar is nowhere to be found. Or you should go into the direction of Mercatorplein or Overtoom… This ’emptiness’ was also noticed by the men behind Bar Spek and Forno and thus they decided it was time for change: Bartack Amsterdam is open!

You find Bartack just a few doors beyond IJsmanschap. It’s the last building just before the park. The building that used to be chapel, then served as a mosque, followed by years of vacancy. Now the whole thing as been renovated to become the newest all day spot of the neighborhood. Champions can go there for breakfast from 08.00 hours and enjoy various breakfast bowls or delicious egg dishes. In fact, breakfast can be ordered all day! And additionally, you can also – as befits a good neighborhood pub – sit down for lunch, dinner and drinks

For the evenings that means that you can choose among vegetable dishes like BBQ vegetables on oak and vegetable tajine and sides as a half grilled spring chicken or the catch of the day. For the perfect snack during your drinking game pitas with hummus and a choice of toppings like dukkah, roasted cauliflower and BBQ pulled pork belly are served. Hmm, sounds like all the ingredients to stay all day & night, right? And yes, that’s what they count on! They have a huge sofa, lots of lazy chairs and a very nice bar all waiting for you to be seated. Will Bartack Amsterdam be as cozy as Bar Spek and Forno? We reckon yes!
