Restaurant Barracuda took off right from the start. And how could it not, with a passionate family running the place together? Their love and passion for their work are evident, and the food at Barracuda (a seafood restaurant) is outstanding. So, it’s no surprise that the team (and therefore the family) immediately saw potential in expansion. This has now materialised in the form of Barracuda Bar Amsterdam, located just down the street.
Why You Should Visit Barracuda Bar Amsterdam
Restaurant Barracuda in North is currently one of our capital’s most beloved new restaurants. The restaurant is managed by a close-knit family: two brothers are co-owners, one of whom works in the kitchen, while their parents handle the mise-en-place. The family dynamics are noticeable down to the most minor details; a single glance among them speaks volumes – they are perfectly in sync. Each table has its menu, where you pick what you want to eat.
The restaurant has received rave reviews from, among others, The Parool and has been a hit since day one. It’s been so successful that it was time for ‘family expansion’ – and now Barracuda Bar Amsterdam is a reality. A delightful spot by the water – a few doors down in Aambeeldstraat – where they serve the finest drinks (from cocktails to wine and beer) and a huge range of snacks. And the best part is that in good weather, you can enjoy it all on the terrace, by the water, in the sun. Thanks to the brightly coloured sunbeds, you could almost forget you’re in the Netherlands. These beach beds are available for rent at โฌ15 per day.
Barracuda Bar Menu
A watermelon daiquiri, anyone? We don’t need to think long before we emphatically say ‘yes’. The cocktails here are very reasonably priced – not just by Amsterdam standards. The snack menu is also worth writing home about because who doesn’t fancy a good glass of wine, fresh draught beer, or colourful cocktail with a generous portion of oysters, lamb skewers, or focaccia with olive oil? In addition to smaller bites, there are small sharing dishes, such as burrata with peppers and anchovies and a broad bean salad with feta. Overall, it is an original and charming hotspot that you’ll want to visit.
