Barracuda Amsterdam: the family restaurant in North that is going crazy

Barracuda Amsterdam is arguably the ultimate hotspot for fish lovers in Amsterdam-Noord. After receiving a scathing review from Het Parool, among others, the owners couldn't be more thrilled. "We've never received such a high rating," was their response to the 9 (!) they received. And rightly so, because a restaurant run with such love and passion isn't often encountered.

Why you want to get a spot at Barracuda as soon as possible

It is one of the most popular new restaurants of 2024: Barracuda Amsterdam. Affordable, simple, and unpretentious are the cornerstones of their operation. The restaurant is run by a close-knit family. Two brothers are co-owners—one in the kitchen—and the parents handle the mise en place. And it works like a well-oiled machine; a single glance is worth a thousand words. It makes you feel not only welcome at Barracuda, but also seen.

Then there's Barracuda's menu. Fish lovers will get hungry just reading it. The dishes are meant to be shared, but a dish like the salade niçoise is also perfect for keeping to yourself. The oysters are, of course, the star dishes, but the whelks and shrimp croquettes are also worth trying. For larger dishes, be sure to ask about the changing menu items. The kibbeling (fried fish) is a favorite for the kids.

For vegetarians this restaurant might not be the place to be, but there are a few vegetable dishes on the menu.
