FollowEvery week I get emails asking if I only eat at trendy places. Uhm… no! I go to Thai or Indian restaurants too. I just don't blog about it. After all, you don't go to these places for the trendy interior or the cool crowd. You go there for the delicious food.
To make sure you don't miss out on my favorite international restaurants, I'll be sharing these gems with you more often. And because I'm still completely in the Thai mood after my trip last month, I'll start with Thai restaurant Bangkok.
My secret spot when I'm going to the movies at Tuschinski with friends or my lover. Thai restaurant Bangkok is right behind the cinema. Back to back, so to speak! On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, you can enjoy a cinema menu for €32,50, including your cinema ticket. You practically get your ticket for free! Great tip, right? It's no wonder my Thai is affectionately called "Thai Tush" by the regulars!
What I love about this Thai restaurant is that it's a true family business. Now, the younger generation from Bangkok is running it. To guarantee the truly authentic Thai flavors, they still source their spices from Bangkok. They do this at a shop where my grandmother used to shop when she had a restaurant in Bangkok.
Don't expect a hip designer interior at Bangkok Thai restaurant. As I mentioned, you go here for the delicious Thai food! The Bangkok mixed starter is highly recommended. The satay sauce is so good! Be sure to check out the specials menu; the summer rolls are also delicious (fresh spring rolls with lots of vegetables). As a side, try a Tom Ka Kai soup. Yum! The great thing about Thai food is that it's so easy to share. We went for a beef dish and the classic pad Thai. My favorite! A Singha beer and the evening was complete.

If you can't finish everything, they'll package up any leftovers for you. You can reheat them at home the next day. Truly excellent service! They should do this everywhere.
So after dinner, it is highly recommended to catch a movie at Tuschinski ! You are just around the corner :-).
