Bakkerij Louf Amsterdam quickly made a name for itself on Bilderdijkstraat. Their delicious sourdough breads (possibly the best in the city!) are still in high demand, with daily queues forming outside the door. Good news, then, for those outside West: Louf has opened not one, but two new locations in Amsterdam.
Ambience and interior at Bakkerij Louf Amsterdam
Step inside Bakkerij Louf Amsterdam, and you’ll immediately feel at ease. It’s as if time stands still, as hip and high-end as low-key and slow-paced. The smell of freshly baked bread and equally fresh croissants greets you as you walk in. The scent of freshly ground coffee perfectly complements this delightful aroma.
Louf West (on Bilderdijkstraat) is a great spot to linger over a coffee and sandwich. The Westerpark branch is much smaller and only offers takeaway. Louf De Pijp is more expansive, featuring a cosy terrace in a side street near Albert Cuyp Market.

Menu and dishes at Bakkerij Louf
At Bakkerij Louf Amsterdam, everything – absolutely everything – is homemade, from the mayonnaise to the smoked fish. As a sommelier pairs wine perfectly with food, Louf ensures the right toppings and pairings for their homemade bread. Louf’s Deli offers filled sandwiches and a wide selection of cookbooks, coffee beans, and delicacies.
Bakkerij Louf is perfect for an easy morning with coffee and croissant or a quick takeaway lunch
As we mentioned, be prepared to wait in line (at least at the West Amsterdam location). But it’s worth it: fresh bread you’ve probably never tasted. Whether you’re stopping by for your morning coffee and croissant with your little one(s), a coffee date, or a takeaway lunch, Louf has something for everyone, any time of the day.
Tip: these (new) restaurants are close to Louf
