Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht: design hotel by Marcel Wanders

A luxury getaway at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht

There are a few real luxury hotels in Amsterdam. Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is one of them! For my birthday my love and I stayed in a suite at this beautiful design hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. As soon as you walk through the door to check in (or just to drink a cocktail!) the staff makes sure you have the best time you can imagine.

The interior design of Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht is designed by Marcel Wanders. I really love how Marcel Wanders used the rich history of Amsterdam in all the design details of the hotel. The interior of the Bluespoon restaurant is black and chic (check my blog about the Bluespoon restaurant here). Cocktails at the bar is a night out by itself! And with your cocktails Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht serves typical Dutch bites. Local produce with a modern twist!

But enough about the restaurant and bar… let me tell you all about the luxury rooms at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht. We had the luck to get un upgrade to one of their suites. WOW! When I walked in the room I instantly want to move in. Permanently! The suites at the Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht have a living room, a separate bedroom and a beautiful spacious bathroom.

The rooms are full of Dutch and Amsterdam inspired details. Arty wooden shoes on the walls, design and coffee tables books about Amsterdam and The Netherlands, a mini bar with Dutch bites and drinks, and fabrics and wall paintings in Delftware with the most beautiful patterns you’ve ever seen. The furniture is also by Marcel Wanders and recognisable. I’m dreaming of having one of those beautiful Marcel Wanders office chairs at my home one day :-).

As you may expect from a luxury hotel like Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht the breakfast is amazing. We spoiled ourselves with room service. I mean… the room was just to beautiful to leave on a Saturday morning. I can highly recommend ordering the Eggs Florentine. Delicious! The rooms at Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht are so comfortable that you just don’t want to leave!

Except for the spa. A great way to gain new energy for a day of exploring and walking around in Amsterdam. Or after doing that! The spa offers various beauty treatments you can book and a sauna and relaxing area that are complimentary to use for guests. After breakfast we went to the sauna and enjoyed the tranquility there. Perfect! It’s also nice to relax for a bit in the beautiful inner garden.
