WOW! We’re working from San Francisco this weekend and oh my, we love this city. We’ve done so many cool things and seen so many highlights, but mainly got to enjoy many delicious sorts of food. 26 tips for things to do this weekend in Amsterdam

  1. Good news for all the vegetarians and flexitarians. In de pop-up spot VEGETARIA by Beckers on the Nieuwezijds Kolk 25 you can visit up until October 7 to try all the 100% vegetarian snacks for a mere € 1,-.  From frikandellen to croquettes!   2. It’s like we can’t catch a break… first Blijburg closed its doors and we have to say goodbye to Roest as well, but this weekend DOK Amsterdam is also having its last party ever. And are closing for good after! But not without a hassle; at their Closing Festival Benny Rodrigues will be DJing among others. This is where you want to be this Saturday!   3. Shopping alert! This weekend you can visit the Kloffie Market at De Hallen. You’ll find slow fashion here, which means it’s all about quality instead of quantity. Sustainable and fashionable all at once! Check the Facebook event here.
  4. This weekend is the Weekend of Science at NEMO. That means a free entrance, but also lots of workshops, activities and demonstrations. Nice! Check the Facebook event for more info.

  6. At MOER you’re closing off your weekend as relaxed as possible. With Bubbles * Oysters with Live Jazz. The oysters are available for one euro a piece, but the others dishes to mix with the bubbles are also recommended. Click here for the Facebook event.
  7. Is Indonesian food more your cup of tea instead of oysters? Then go have a look at Mama Makan, who are having a Bottomless BBQ on Sunday. All sorts of chicken skewers and more of the BBQ, Indonesian Style. YUM! Click here for toe Facebook event.
  8. The Pulitzer’s Bar is introducing their new cocktail menu, inspired on the life of the writer Ernest Hemingway. It consists of 12 cocktails that you definitely want to try all ;-). Check the site for more info.
  9. Dancing at Ruigoord will never not be fun! This Saturday you can do that until at least Sunday morning 8AM at Boy Scouts. Non-stop techno, so techno fans will love it for sure! Check the Facebook event for tickets.

  11. After oysters and Indonesian food there’s of course also a Sunday Boozy Brunch, and at Persijn this time. Unlimited dishes like scrambled eggs and pancakes, but also lots of Bloody Marys and Espresso Martinis. Check the Facebook event here.
  12. Another great Sunday tip: the Sunday Market at the Westergasfabriek. You can also have a drink and something to eat here, but also go for a shopping spree or participate in the workshops. Check the Facebook event for more info.
  13. Are you into craft beer? Then the Craft Beer Festival at Atelier Schinkel this Sunday might be just the thing for you. Besides all the craft beers they have lots of food, with a Mexican twist! Click here for the Facebook event.
  14. Wijn & Spijs evening at Shanghai Bistro. They’re having Hardys Wines from Australia as a guest so that makes for an interesting combination. Tasty Thai dishes with an Australian wine! You can try it this Sunday. Check out the Facebook event here.
  15. Also on Saturday you can score oysters for only one euro, at Rayleigh & Ramsay. Every Saturday they have. huge stock of of oysters, so you can start by figuring out which wine you’re going to have with it – you have the options of 100 different ones ;-). Click here for the Facebook event.
  16. This Sunday is obviously meant for brunch, because the INK Hotel also has a nice one this Sunday: the Let There Be Brunch in collaboration with Ketel One Vodka. Are you not really an early bird-type of person? No worries, they have two shifts here! Check the Facebook event here.
  17. Do you already know new hotspot Dimitri’s in Amsterdam East? Believe me, you want to know this all-day spot >>
  18. If you’re looking for a nice pop-up spot, check out Sergeant Pepper at the Kopstootbar. All kinds of curries and a three course menu for €18,50. Good to know: they also have lots of vegan options. Check the Facebook event for more info.
  19. Let’s get Spanish! And by that we mean the Sunday at The Seafood Bar, where on this day it’s time for some paella! And if you’re an lover of paella you’ll definitely want to try this one.   21. YES, they’re open for business! I’m of course talking about the Spaghetteria in De Pijp >>
  22. A little bit away from the city center, but always a nice getaway; the Pure Market in the Amsterdamse Bos. It’s not the ideal temperature for a picknick, but the terraces are always great here! Click here for the Facebook event.
  23. The Tropenmuseum also has a nice exposition, namely Things That Matter. As the night already suggests, they’re having an exposition about things that have personal matter to all kinds of people.   25. THEATERTIP: Rundfunk in De Meervaart. Chances are that you have seen the clip from the German teacher (“Onvoldoende!”) and now they have their own theatre show. Check the Facebook event, there’s a show on Saturday.
