Hello July! Does this mean that summer is finally starting in Amsterdam? I’m counting on it, because the waiting has been too long for now, right? So cheers to endlessly hot summer nights! And also the endless glasses of rosé and cold beers ;-) To start this month the best way possible I collected the best weekendtips for you again. – This weekend it’s time for the very first Oedipus International Beer Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Amsterdam-North will then be taken over by super interesting beers from all over the world. Accompanied by your favourite brewers from Holland as well as from other parts of the world. And of course there’s more then food: art, culture and good local food. Cheers!

– Oysters for 1 euro! That’s  – plus G&T’s and good music -what you’ll find at Oysterboys x Ruig in Café Ruig.this Saturday!

– An event outside of Amsterdam, but because it’s sooo good we want to share it with you! BBQ in the grassland near Lindenhoff. This event as become a household name for anyone who loves some good food. Think of long dining tables, fire masters who prepare the best lamb-, pork- and beef chops, crusty bread and vegetables from the woodoven, a wine tastery, live music and a bouncy castly for the kids. Go go go!

– Sunday from 13 hours you can go to Graceland Bar B-Q for the U.S. Independence Day BBQ. While listening to funky live music you can eat here the most delicious meat straight from the barbecue.

– Friday it’s already time for the twelfth opening at DOK Amsterdam. And you know what to expect: good music, tasty bites and delicious drinks! Plus of course the great bonfire!

– From Friday to Sunday the Erasmuspark in West is turned into the open air festival Westwaarts. Here you get swinging salsa to South-African soul, hiphop and some jazz. Entrance is free!

– Of course no summer without the ZOOmernights of Artis. This Saturday Max Meser will play!

– This Saturday from 14 hours you can also go to VLLA for some up beat swing music during Rump Funk: The Funky Family ExperienceThink graffitim dance and rap workshops. And when the kids are in bed, you can party on ;-) Until 19 hours the entrance is free!

– Yes! This Sunday we can splash again during Badplaats Summer Sessions w/ The Soul Travelers on the rooftop of the Volkshotel. Don’t forget to bring your towel ;-)

– Let’s get loose on Friday and Saturday during the always fun PITCH 2016 festival in the Westerpark!

– Or save your energy for Saturday and go to the first ever edition of Japies Hof at the Jaap Eden icerink. A gastronomical music festival for the whole family :-)

– And then there’s just another festival, but this one’s for all the techno-lovers:  Verknipt FestivalThis Saturday from 12 hours!

– Sunday you can go to the Oosterpark for some good vibes and culture at the for the Roots Open Air 2016. Thé open air festival as a closure of Roots 2016. Nice stalls, swinging live music and much more!

– But also this Friday you can already partay in the Oosterpark. At Keti Koti the abolition of the Surinamese slavery is celebrated. During the years this has grown into an attractive and extraordinary festival!

– And last but not least: at the Westergasterras you can close the weekend in the most perfect way at Lazy Hipz “Sunday Summer Sessions” W/ Dmitrischenko Free Entrance. For anyone who wants to end the Sunday swinging as well as relaxed. For example, with a drink in one of the beanbags?


– Do you feel like shopping? We just may have this great tip: the shuttle service from the Victoria Hotel – across Central Station – to Batavia Stad Amsterdam Fashion Outlet. No complicated transport, just you and your shoppingspree at La Dress, Adidas, Calvin Klein and many more!

– So we’re big fans of Pluk Amsterdam but now there’s yet another good reason to go there. Because from now on also The Amsterdam City Guide en Wanderlust are for sale there! Go go go!

– YES! Otentic Perfumes has opened their Star Store Otentic Amsterdam on the Keizersgracht. Here you get the most delicious fragrances and perfumes. And weekend is all about spoiling yourself, right?

– Banksy is still dominating the Moco Museum with his exposition Laugh Now. met zijn expositie Laugh Now. Due to great success, moreover, extended till October 20. And perhaps more importantly, this is the last weekend that you do can also see the cool art of Andy Warhol here!

– And because Amsterdam looooves Banksy, there’s more. Also the art’otel spreads the love with the exposition Street Art Evolution inspired by Banksy. Until September 30!

– You can still check out Rhythm & Roots in the Tropenmuseum. Until October 30 you can learn all about music worldwide here!

– Fan of The Rolling Stones? Make sure you go to the Eduard Planting Gallery. Until July 9 you can check out ‘Breaking Stones 1963-1965: A Band on the Brink of Superstardom‘.

– For more music legendaries you can still go to Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait. An intimate, personal exhibition until September 4!

– Made in Amsterdam is still to be seen in the Amsterdam Museum. Until the end of the month you can learn all about the art streams of Amsterdam over the past 100 years.

– Only ten more days you can check World Press Photo 2016 in the Nieuwe Kerk!

– And still one of our favourites:  Wonen in de Amsterdamse School the Stedelijk Museum. Until August 28 you can check more than 500 interior designs here!


– Feel like dancing on the best hip hop, disco, funk and soul beats? Then Zwarte Koffie in the Paradiso is where you want to go this Saturday!

– Want to dance but just not that into clubs? This Saturday Pllek is the perfect fit for you! After dinner they move the tables aside and you can dance! Mark your agenda for Beatroots at Pllek!
