24 January 2019

BRRRRR it’s SO cold outside! But I must admit, to me Amsterdam is at it’s prettiest when covered under a layer of snow. It makes me want to go for cosy drinks with friends and go for long lunches. I am in the middle of making some big plans for Your Little Black Book for 2019. Which destinations to add to our travel guides, what is on my personal bucketlist and what should be the new categories on the website? But first: weekend! And of course I have created 10 great tips for you guys, for your perfect weekend in Amsterdam. I am going to do a lot of restaurant testing this weekend! At what hotspots? I will tell you more about them later on in this weekend guide. Curious? Keep reading and enjoy the tips in your Amsterdam Weekend Guide for January 25, 26 and 27!

❶ We are right in the process of testing and interviewing all the new restaurants in Amsterdam that recently opened their doors. I am going to two of them myself this weekend:
Ron’s Gastrobar Indonesia opened the doors where Nacarat used to be.
Restaurant Watergang is one of the promising newcomers! A very intimate table d’hote restaurant with a European menu.
MILK is the new restaurant next to the Melkweg Expo. Open every day from 11 am.
⋙ Good news for all vegans! The Vegan Junkfood Bar opened their Reguliersdwarsstraat location.
⋙ Just opened: the Noordermarkt got even more fun with the opening of restaurant Domenica .

❷ This weather is perfect for museum days and checking out new exhibitions. And of course I rounded up the coolest ones for you to go and check out!  I have the annual museum card which allows you to visit most museums in the Netherlands ‘ for free’. Don’t feel like waiting in long lines? Book your tickets online!

⋙ Did you already check out Cool Japan in the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam? A recommendation for everyone that has been to Japan (you will see a lot of memories flash by) or that wants to go here soon to scratch this great country of the bucketlist. Read all about this exhibition here >> Tip: afterwards, go for drinks or a coffee at Bar Botanique, Louie Louie or Bar Bukowski!

⋙ Foodies definitely want to see the new exhibition in FOAM! Very relatable, since I am always photographing my food wherever I go. Are you also a foodie and into photography? Then you really want to check out  ‘Feast for the Eye’. All about the history of food photography!

⋙ Going outside in cities to spot street art is super cool, but let’s be honest, super cold right now. That’s why you should go to the MOCO museum. With lots of pieces by the famous Banksy, but they are also hosting a new exhibition with work by the New York artist Daniel Arsham.

Exactly 55 years ago the Beatles visited Amsterdam and to celebrate this special event, you can now visit the unique photo exhibition in the gallery restaurant 5&33, called ‘Unseen Beatles’ by photographer Robert Whitaker. The good news? It’s completely free!
