23 January 2020

HAPPY WEEKEND! As you’re reading this I am busy packing the suitcases for the very first winter sports holiday with the three of us. I’m looking forward to it so much! Next week I will first go to Salzburgerland and then I will take the train to [category cat = “5738” text = “Switzerland”] for a delicious dose of fresh Alpine air. I cannot wait! This Friday I will be attending some nice events in Amsterdam, but of course I have also collected the best things to do for you, for the perfect Saturday and Sunday in the city. Maybe you will participate in Dry January this month, just like me? I have to say that as the month progresses it’s going easier and easier for me, so maybe I will continue for a while! ❶ Because of this event I almost regret that I am on winter sport! At Ron Gastrobar Oriental you can join us on Saturday 25 January for a nightly dinner to celebrate the Chinese New Year with lots of delicious food from 11 p.m. Want to find out more and make reservations? Check out the Facebook event >>

❷ Nice, nice, nice! Karavaan is finally open and with that one of the largest terraces in the city is open again this spring. Until that time it is also a nice place to be inside at this new hotspot on Kwakersplein. Want to find out more? Check their Instagram!

 |FOODIE TIP: Are you familiar with SurpriSeat? This restaurant platform turns going out to dinner into a real exciting event again. I highly recommend trying this out for a date night. For € 26,50 you can book a 2 course dinner in Amsterdam, Utrecht or Rotterdam. The restaurant you will be eating at is kept secret until a couple hours before dinner time. Want to experience this too? Use the code YLBB to get a € 7,50 discount on a surprise dinner for 2. Read more about it in this blogpost or make a reservation here for your own SurpriSeat >>

❸ Eating out with the kids and want to enjoy your own meal quietly as well? That is possible again on Sunday January 26 during a new edition of Jansz Family Sundays. Enjoy an early meal, a more extensive kids menu and a nanny who plays with the kids. Check out the Facebook event for all details >>

❹ Do you want to have breakfast, lunch or something to eat in the evening this weekend? Then check out the new Madame Cyclette hotspot at Stadionplein (underneath Restaurant Wills, another great address). The mackerel sandwich is already one of my personal favourites. Check their Instagram for more info >>

❺ I wrote it before … it seems that all the fun events nowadays are on Sunday. This Sunday you can sit down again for a Sunday Boil with crayfish at The Good Companion. Read all about it in the Facebook event >>

First have a nice brunch and then rent a course at the ‘Mooie Boules’ bar! Read all about this brunch here >>

❼ These are the special evenings: the monthly restaurant evenings at the ‘Rijk van de Keizer’. Here you sit down for a surprise menu with organic ingredients. We cannot wait until Cantina West opens again, but until then you can go here. Make reservations via the Facebook event>>

❽ Also on Sunday and always delicious: the Sunday Roast at Hotel V Fizeaustraat. The tastiest dishes from the charcoal grill that are perfect to share for two or more. Make reservations via the Facebook event >>

This Sunday you can visit Razmataz again for a new edition of Zilte Zondag. Oysters for € 1 and liters of Picpoul on glass. Check out the Facebook event for the times >>

❿ Starting Saturday January 25 you can visit the new pop-up exhibition Now Look here – The African art of appearance in Noord. A special exhibition made by eighteen African artists. Check the Facebook event for all details >>
