12 -14 July Amsterdam weekend guide!

I’m a weekly guest with Your Little Black Book on English Breakfast Radio (local radio 99.4 FM). Every week I create a weekend guide with only the best handpicked things to do in Amsterdam! Have fun on this fashionable weekend in Amsterdam, hope you enjoy my tips :-).

Food & Drinks in Amsterdam

New restaurants and bars are opening in Amsterdam every week! And I love new hotspots :-). This are the new and hot restaurants or bars in town:
* Boterham is a new breakfast and lunch hotspot in Amsterdam East close to the new Amstel Campus. Andreas Bonnstraat 2.
* At the Olympic Stadium neighbourhood a new restaurant called Marathonweg opened. Delicious wood oven pizza’s! Marathonweg 1-5
* This week SLA is finally opening at the Ceintuurbaan. My new favorite for a healthy salad or juice! Ceintuurbaan 149
– If you’re looking for a unique dining experience book a table at the Zomerrestaurant. On Vuurtoren island, an island normally not open to the public, but close to Amsterdam a pop-up restaurant will open from Thursday to Sunday. A daily changing menu by some of the best known chef in Amsterdam. Reservations are required. Prices include the boat ride!

Out & About in Amsterdam

– Friday July 12 you can join at the Museumplein for a free vegetarian meal tying to break a world record. Imagine a 360 meter long table!
– Fashion addicts alert! This week the uptown events for Amsterdam Fashion Week start. At the area around the Westerpark it will be all about fashion this weekend. I’ll be reporting there for SBS6, so hope to see you there Friday July 12 or Sunday July 14. You can download the free app to check out the time table!
Festival tip: this weekend it’s Day at the Park. A music festival in the Amsterdam forest!
– I love food markets on Sunday! This weekend it’s Sunday Market at the city beach Amsterdam Roest. And at the Amstelpark there is Pure Markt! Expect good food, vintage clothes and a great atmosphere. Let’s hope for sunny weather :-)
– Sunday it’s national monumentday. Lots of monuments are open to the public for free. Great way to find out more about the Dutch history!
– Last weekend for the Over het IJ festival. A music and theater festival in Amsterdam North at the NDSM warf. So escape your daily business and go there for a night of entertainment and good food. Untill July 15!

Still there to visit:

– The Artis Zoo summer nights are on again! Until the end of the summer Artis stays open on Saturdays until after 21 hours. With every Saturday live shows and a special programme.
– My favourite theater… the Vondelpark theater with shows every Sunday afternoon until August 25th. Free entrance! You can check out the agenda here.
– Fun for a Sunday walk is to stroll around Art Zuid. Lots of sculptures and outdoor art around the Apollolaan. It’s a local initiative to support art and I think it really cheers up the street view! Until September 22th.
New exhibit in Foam Amsterdam! It’s all about fashion with Edward Steichen – In High Fashion, the Condé Nast Years, 1923–1937. Untill September 6th!

Have a great weekend!!
