6 Airbnb etiquette tips for being a good guest

Be a good guest and read this Airbnb etiquette carefully!

Consider choosing an Airbnb instead of a hotel; it's becoming increasingly popular. But Airbnb hosts are just people, just like you and me. To make your stay as pleasant as possible for both you as a guest and the host, never forget this Airbnb etiquette!

1. Arrive and depart on time

When booking an Airbnb, be sure to check the check-in and check-out times. Airbnb hosts, of course, have their own daily lives, jobs, and other responsibilities. So don't keep your host waiting; arrive and depart at the agreed-upon times.

2. Respect the house rules

Does it say you're not allowed to throw parties? Then don't. House rules are there for a reason, and your host could get into serious trouble with the neighbors if you go wild. By the way, if it says you're not allowed to smoke indoors, respect that. Because if you sneak in anyway, you'll smell it right away.

3. Adapt

With some Airbnbs, the host will be home while you stay overnight. This should be clearly stated in the listing. Adapt to the host's daily routine and don't complain if they get up early or watch TV late at night, for example.

4. Never ask if you can pay in cash

This is a definite no-go! Yes, Airbnb charges a certain percentage, and yes, it would be cheaper and easier if you could pay cash, but that fee is there for a reason. Airbnb states that this provides financial security and personal safety to both guests and hosts, and aims to prevent fraud for both parties.

5. Leave a review

After your stay, take a few minutes to leave a review on Airbnb. Good reviews are everything on Airbnb! Did you enjoy your stay? Be sure to share it with others! Your host will also appreciate it.

6. leave a gift

As I said, good reviews are everything on Airbnb! And just as you can rate your stay, you can also be rated in return. And of course, you score points by making an extra effort. For example, by leaving a small gift. This way, you end your stay with a pleasant experience, and that's what counts!
