Finally, it's here! The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam is open again. And especially for the opening, admission is free on April 13th from 12.00:24.00 PM to midnight. Walk across the meter-long orange carpet and join the queue, because it will be crowded ;-). From April 14th, the museum will be open 365 days a year. In the opening year, an entrance fee is €15. Tip: buy a museum pass; it's much cheaper over the year. I can still remember my first visit to the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam as a child... The enormous canvases, overwhelming! In the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam You can wander for hours. And in between, you can have lunch, coffee, or drinks at Het Cafe. This museum café is full of Dutch design and features only Dutch items on the menu. From sweets to sandwiches and from Dutch jenever to Heineken. And for those who prefer shopping to looking at museum pieces, there's a two-story museum shop. The top floor features gift items, and the ground floor houses the extensive book section. Don't live near Amsterdam but still want to see the entire collection? You can do so online at Rijksstudio. Read my blog about this great tool and create your own Rijksmuseum merchandise!
