This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!

Celebrate New Year's Eve in Paris at the Eiffel Tower
Don't expect massive fireworks at the foot of the Eiffel Tower when the clock strikes midnight. It is, however, quite special to ring in the new year here. Count down together with all the people who have come here to welcome 2024. The Eiffel Tower is decorated with no fewer than 20.000 lights and pebbles. You can't climb the tower, as it closes at 9:00 PM on New Year's Eve. The next day, you can still ring in the new year from a great height, as the Eiffel Tower is open on January 1st.

This year, NYE in Paris is extra special, with a spectacular fireworks display at the Arc de Triomphe. Before the fireworks burst, there's a musical program that's sure to get you moving. Every year, there's a light show where images are projected onto the Arc de Triomphe. Please note that you're not allowed to bring glasses and you're not allowed to set off your own fireworks. Champagne tastes just as good from a paper cup, and there's no need to set off your own fireworks when you see the fireworks display. Arrive early, as the Champs-Élysées fills up early, as no one wants to miss a moment of the spectacle.

Don't like huge crowds but still want to see the fireworks? Head to the Sacré Coeur for a fantastic view. This reward comes after climbing all the steps.

Want to enjoy a stunning view of Paris on New Year's Eve? Head to the Generator rooftop. At the Khayma Rooftop, ring in the new year with a signature cocktail. At Le Ciel de Paris on the 56th floor of the Tour Montparnasse, you'll have a fantastic view of Paris, including the Hôtel des Invalides, the École Militaire, and of course, the Eiffel Tower. In the distance, you can see the skyscrapers of La Défense. On the rooftops of Oxygen and Nodd, NYE is getting wild.

Many restaurants in Paris offer a special New Year's Eve dinner instead of à la carte. Le Grand Colbert at 2 Rue Vivienne is open for a delicious, traditional French dinner. For a sophisticated New Year's Eve meal, try Alliance. This Michelin-starred restaurant also serves culinary delights on New Year's Eve and has created a festive dinner. What better way to ring in the new year? At Tosca at 20 Rue du Cirque, you'll feel immersed in Italian style. La Bauhania in the Shangri-La Hotel is also opening its doors for a gastronomic celebration. Looking for a more informal dinner? Visit a typical Parisian brasserie, such as La Crémaillère 1900 or La Mère Catherine.

Clubbing during New Year's Eve in Paris
Want to ring in the New Year at one of Paris's famous nightclubs? The dance floor is open until the early morning, and the New Year's package is generally all-inclusive. Enjoy dinner, champagne, and other drinks. For example, celebrate New Year's Eve in Paris at Le Duplex, near the Arc de Triomphe. Rex Club and Le Bus Palladium are also highly recommended. The Alcazar Club hosts a live rock 'n' roll concert combined with dinner.
Attend a Cabaret Show on New Year's Eve in Paris
Cabaret shows are inextricably linked to Paris. Expect an evening of extravagant costumes, dance, and music. The Moulin Rouge is one of the most famous cabaret and burlesque shows in Paris. The Moulin Rouge is located in the Montmartre district on Boulevard de Clichy. Experience a magical NYE in Paris with dinner and the famous Féerie show. Also the Crazy Horse is extra festive on New Year's Eve. Enjoy a show here while enjoying a free half bottle of champagne. The Lido Doors open at 7:30 PM. After dinner and a pre-show, enjoy the revue. Once you've all celebrated the New Year together, let's get down to business with a huge dance party. A little less well-known is Pink Paradise, which also hosts a spectacular New Year's Eve party.
Public transport during New Year's Eve in Paris
Leave early for your chosen party, as many stations will be busier than usual. Don't worry about getting back to your hotel after New Year's Eve, as public transport will continue to operate throughout the night. However, there may be some deviations from the normal schedule. As a bonus, the metro, trams, buses, and RER trains are free from 5:00 PM on December 31st and on January 1st.
What to do on January 1st in Paris?
Is Paris a lifeless city after a spectacular New Year's Eve? Not at all! If you still have energy left, it's wonderful to leisurely stroll through one of the many museums in the afternoon. Not all museums are open, but there's still plenty to see. The Musée Bourdelle, with works by the eponymous sculptor, is open. You can also visit the Centre Pompidou visit or the Orangerie Museum where you can see Monet's 'Water Lilies' up close. The Eiffeltower can be visited every day of the year, including January 1st. Take the train to visit VersaillesWant to spend some time outdoors? The various old cemeteries in Paris are peaceful, and when it snows, they offer a particularly beautiful sight.
Is Paris also nice between Christmas and New Year's Eve?
The Eiffeltower Paris is open 365 days a year, and other attractions are also open between Christmas and New Year's Eve. The city exudes a festive atmosphere, and you can book a Christmas Lights Evening Tour with a hop-on hop-off bus. A stroll among the thousands of lights on the Champs-Élysées and Boulevard Haussmann is also breathtaking. The Christmas market at the Jardin des Tuileries is open until January 2nd. You can also browse the stalls at Montmartre and Mall Branly and warm up with a glass of mulled wine.

This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!

HOME ALONE 4 INCOMING 😅 My trip to NYC ends in a bad (Christmas) movie when the hotel gives my carry-on luggage with passport to an old lady who doesn't realize this and checks the luggage on a flight to the UK!
Now I'm stuck here in NY without a passport, and I missed my flight.
I've experienced a lot in all the years I've been traveling for Your Little Black Book, but this is a first 😅.
This chat video is purely therapeutic in nature 🤣🤣🤣. Because really: HOW?! 🫢
Note to self: it's better to carry your passport all day, instead of leaving it "safely" in the hotel, apparently... and from now on, attach suitcases with cables in the storage room. Even if you're staying in a luxurious and expensive hotel, everything is still done by humans.
Now I'm stuck in one of the world's coolest cities, but of course I just want to be home with Manuel, as planned. 😔

How cool is this? There are places in the Netherlands where you can cut down your own Christmas tree! You don't hear about it very often, even though it's quite common in America (where I'm currently!).
Good to know: some of these places in the Netherlands are only open for a few days a year and you have to reserve a time slot.

This time we went to @williams.farmhouse, one of my favorite lunch spots in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. But is it also fun during the day with kids?
We ordered a 'plain' version of the Farmhouse burger 🍔: yes, really just meat + cheese 🤣… and together with the fries it was a mega success.
Happy child, happy us... and it was such a cozy, rainy afternoon. I mean, this interior makes me dream of the Cotswolds again!
