This is a nice place for everything really. Cozy with the parents, a dinner with the lover, or a meal with friends. Allswell has an open and friendly atmosphere. Cool wallpaper, too. The dark wooden bar, tables and chairs, and dim lighting (low light is always a good thing; we all just look a little more appetizing with less light) create a cozy ambiance.
We have a super friendly waitress tonight. I love that kind of enthusiasm; you don't see that much here. Although, thankfully, you do in Williamsburg.
The risotto with squid ink is really tasty and my gnocchi (I think I can call myself a gnocchi expert by now) was also super delicious.
I say, go during happy hour ($1 oysters!!!) and you'll have a great evening. It's actually quite a small place, so it gets busy quickly for dinner or brunch. So try to get there early. And if you can, sit as far away from the door as possible, because it gets very cold there in the winter.
Did I mention it's a top spot for brunch? You were probably already in Williamsburg enjoying everything in this cozy neighborhood within this vibrant city, so why not pop in and treat yourself to a bit of Allswell?
