6 X tips to organise the perfect running dinner

18 December 2015

INSPIRATIon fOR a surprising holiday DINnER!

With the holidays coming you might not be looking forward to endless evenings of cooking or standard 4-course dinners. Would you, just like me, like to do something different at the dinner table together with friends and family? Organise a Running Dinner!

On a Running Dinner you divide your company into four different groups: Welcome Drinks, Starter, Main course and Dessert. So every group is responsible for one course, but also for the location. Who has to prepare which course? That will be decided by playing the thrilling Spin the Bottle-spel game. After every course you make your way to the next location. The advantage of that is that this time you are not the only one cleaning up after a big night of fun ;-).

On Runningdinner.nl Royal Club tells you all about how to organise your own Runner Dinner and how to invite your friends. But as a foodie I also came up with a few tips!

6 X TIPS which will make your running dinner a success.

1 >> RUNNING DINNER THEME
Doesn’t every party get a lot better as soon as it has a theme to it? Especially with a Running Dinner this is the fun part, because it’s nice to see how every group works with the theme. For example you could go for a specific theme like Viva Italia, Dutch Glory or Bohemian.

2 >> IMPRESS WITH THE WELCOME DRINKS
Playing the game Spin the Bottle it turned out I have to prepare the Welcome Drinks. One thing I’m sure about, is that I’m gonna make the Royal Club Rosemarie’s Pear, invented by Tess Posthumus, the best female bartender of the world. So tasty! You will find the recipe of it on Runningdinner.nl. In the next few weeks I will experiment with a few homemade Welcome Drinks. The holidays are perfect for it!

3 >> PRACTICE YOUR MEAL
With the Running Dinner you have to change locations after every course. That means you won’t have time to spend hours in the kitchen to prepare your dish. Practice by preparing the dish of your course, so you will not run into any surprises. And you will have more time to spend with your company!

4 >> MISE EN PLACE
A good start makes the rest easier. I’ll make sure to have all my mise en place in order: I’ll cut all the veggies in advance, and everything that I can prepare is done.

5 >> FAIR SHARE OF PRICE
To keep it nice, it is probably the best to all spend about the same amount of money on the course. Talk about the price range in advance, so everyone knows what to expect. Tip: put all the same amount of money in to buy groceries for the Running Dinner.

6 >> TABLE DECORATION LIKE A PRO
Nothing is as much fun as preparing a beautiful looking dinner table. Do you want to put some extra glamour to your course? Decorate the table with nameplates, candles, serviettes, placemats and maybe even glitters and garlands. The table decoration is also the perfect way to make use of the theme of the Running Dinner!

HAPPY NEW YEAR RUNNING DINNER

For my New Years dinner I will do a Running Dinner beginning of next year with friends. Do you already have an idea what you’re doing this holidays? I hope I made you enthusiastic with these tips to also organise a Running Dinner.

Happy holidays!
