For the best sashimi and uramaki: 5 x sushi in Reykjavik!
I looooove sushi. Really, if there’s anything you can wake me up for then it’s definite sushi. Luckily Anne is just as crazy about sushi as I am so we couldn’t wait to try out the different sushi restaurants in Reykjavik. By being so close to the sea, the fish had to be fresh. And that’s something we definitely wanted to try. So where do you go for sushi? Check out this blog with our favourite sushi restaurants in Reykjavik.

1 >> Sushi Samba >> sushi in Reykjavik
This fushion slash South American restaurant is perfect to have sushi in the afternoon or evening. Share a mixed sushi platter! It’s always nice to share and this way you can try all kinds of sushi. Sushi Samba looks really cool by the way, with these (empty) bird cages on the ceiling and flower pots as decoration. A true hipster hotspot.

2 >> Fish Company >> sushi in Reykjavik
The next restaurant called Fish Company (Fiskfélagio) is a bit more chic. A place where many business people come in the afternoon for a fish soup or some sushi. You can also share a mixed platter here and you’ll get an amuse and some bread with it. The service is great here and the restaurant looks beautiful. Dark and warm. Highly recommended!

3 >> SushiBarinn >> sushi in Reykjavik
In one of the oldest buildings in Reykjavik (1886) you have the sushi restaurant Sushibarinn. On the most known shopping street Laugavegur. On the menu you have sushi and sticks. Of course mostly made with local products. The sushi look so good that you almost don’t dare to eat it. But you should though: it is amazing! Tip: at Sushibarinn you can also take out sushi! Walk towards the water and find a bench to eat your sushi while looking at the beautiful sunset!

4 >> SAKEBARINN >> SUSHI IN REYKJAVIK
Right above Sushibarinn you’ll find another sushibar: Sakebarinn! The place to go for fresh products, good cocktails and and very special sushi. Try the surf n ‘turf roll here! With soft shell crab, garlic and avocado, flamed beef, coriander and ginger oil. Surprising combinations that provide flavor explosion in your mouth.

5 >> Fish Market >> sushi in Reykjavik
Another favourite sushi rrestaurant is called Fish Market (Fiskmarkaðurinn). Founded by one of the few female chefs in Reykjavik. Hrefnu Rósu Sætran is also the owner of the Grillmarket (Grillmarkaðurinn). At Fish Market, Icelandic ingredients are used to create dishes with a twist. Sounds complicated, but tastes amazing. The salmon for example just melts away on your tongue.
